High Performance Lubricants PCMO Series

For the record each of the values on our PDS’s are measured. And although we are pretty precise repeating blends not every batch will be exactly the same.

As far as NOACK we do not have that instrument. We have a TGA instead. We have run TGA’s on quality competing oils and know that we are in very good shape. This is also evidenced by real world results like wwillson has seen in his zero make up 26,000 mile run on our 5w20.

I would also say common sense would dictate not every vehicle will have zero consumption like his. It is fair to say that if volatility were an issue of ours we would in fact see it there.

Thanks.

Although the disclaimer at the bottom is concerning. "NOTE: Properties above are not a specification, they are typical and may vary."

I haven't seen that on any other manufacturers PDS.

We have a lot of viscosities in our product lines that are outside the official designated grades.
For that reason you see that statement. What you have with us are a lot more choices. You can also have confidence as we use the same good raw materials on the unofficial grades as well as the others.

Thank you! I wasnt expecting any volatility issues. Just curious of the percentages.

Plus none of that on their list nor on anyone else's list is a "specification". It's a list of typical values.

Specifications, licenses and approvals are a different list.

I'm really intrigued about the 0w-40 and 5w-40 Premium Plus oils. But how suitable would they be for a euro application? Would they be near say an LL-04 Mid-Saps or LL-01 Full Saps oil?

To answer your question directly they would do well. However the better path would be to use the correct additive chemistry for the euro oils. We have some of those now and are working on the rest of the grades we will be adding to that group. Once complete we will have a datasheet available.

Ok thanks for the quick reply! Kinda what I was thinking but figured I'd ask. Looking forward to those!

Also just did some additional clicking around, is this the current Euro 5w-30 offering you have? Or is this a different product line than what you are currently working on?

5W30 Synthetic Euro Motor Oil Quart

The 5w30 you are asking about is VW502. We have a new one of those and a 504/507 version as well.

David, I'm excited to see these PDS's finally released to the public. That Premium Plus 0W-40 with a -72*F pour point and 3.9 HTHS looks like an outstanding all-around oil.
I'd like to try this 0W-40 at my place located north of the Anchorage area. I always worry about shipping costs though, and would need to investigate HPL distribution options.

Did I miss the VOAs for these oils? I'm seeing a heavy dose of calcium in the one that was posted, that I'm not thrilled about. Do the other two upper quality lines have it removed?

I'm not worried about meets or exceeds approvals anymore since I'm out of warranty, but I do need to be super mindful of LSPI because of my turbo hamster wheel. Still would love NOACK figures, but that's just part of how I compare things.

See this post about calcium and LSPI
