The pattern of consumption was down 1/2 qt at about 500 miles, down a full quart at around 1k miles. Prior to going on my road trip, I was 650 miles into the OCI with no apparent consumption. The night before leaving, I replaced the spark plugs with NGK Iridium plugs. The old plugs were way out of gap, .075. The specified gap is .050. That is the only variable that changed.

Why. It is. If you divide both 8 and 10 by 2, you get 4/5.

4 is closer to 5 than 8 is to 10.

If you were to tell me 4/5ths is the same as 9/10ths, that would make more sense.

I know how to reduce fractions, but that 4/5ths = 8/10ths equation doesn't make any sense.

3/9ths = 1/3. Now THAT makes sense!!

You must still be trolling.......
However if you aren't it explains soooooooooooo much.

High mileage oils tend to be on the thicker end of the grade and have additives to improve the plyability of gasket materials,so in theory oil loss should improve using one of these type oils.
I've never seen one on sale though other than defy once or twice which means no sale for me.
I buy only what's on sale. I then get top shelf syn's for less than regular priced conventionals.
When I acquire a vehicle if there's any gaskets leaking first thing they get is liqui-moly motor oil saver. It has never let me down. Being an ester it helps clean too which helps my primary objective which is clean innards.
I've used defy before and liked it very much however the numbers don't work for me.
