High mileage ATF's

Anybody have any info, good or bad, on the High Mileage ATF's you see around in stores, you know the ones that say you should use them if your car/truck has over 75K miles.

I was looking at Max Life ATF the other day, but just wanted to see what people thought or if anybody has had any experience with it.

Is it truly better for higher mileage transmissions or is it a scam? What do they do to it that makes it better for higher mileage transmissions? Is it just a beefed up additive pack with seal conditioners in it or what?

Pretty much. Just think "high mileage oil for transmissions".

Though I don't use the HM ATF's, I sure wouldn't hesitate to try it if I had a trans with a small leak, etc.

Yeah but is High Mileage engine oil a scam also? I mean if the beefed up additive packs made the oil so much better and tougher for older engines and the seal conditioners helped engines, then why wouldn't they just be in all oil?

I have also heard the sometimes the friction enhancers in the highe mileage ATF aren't the best thing to stick in an old transmission, but then again there's so much info around who knows what to believe.

I really don't have much knowledge of the High Mileage ATF's, but I believe the High Mileage oils are generally high quality products. They usually have better base oils, and a beefier add pack. The rea$on the better ba$e $tock$/add$ aren't in all oil$ i$ becau$e they rai$e the co$t of the product, and a lot of people don't want to pay extra if a lower priced product will do the job.

I am making an assumption that the general benefits of High Mileage oil apply to High Mileage ATF as well. Hopefully someone with more firsthand experience will jump in. BTW, you're absolutely correct about there being so much (and sometimes conflicting) info out there. It does make it hard to filter out the useful info.

I put it in my Chevy with 173k miles. It works/shifts great.
