just recently I tried some of the new PYB 5w30 in my car. Well,I guess my RX doesnt care for the beloved YB Conventional oil. Immediately after driving it (had Kendall Synthetic blend in it prior)it seemed doggy! I thought it just had to get used to the change in the different oil`s. well after 3800 miles,it still felt like it was holding back so to speak. So I decided to try the new Ultra. Man what a difference! so much peppier,smoothness/quietness about the same. But is it ever cleaning up that motor inside (according to the dipstick) it`s been in for about 1500 miles, and the oil is a dark amber color already

This does not make me real happy though,as I was going to just use the YB for 5k runs. I thought about clearing the ecm (when the YB was in it) but I didnt, maybe it would have adjusted better to it I dont know. But after thinking about it,according to the car`s portfolio,It`s never had a full conventional oil in it! only the dealer oil of choice which is Kendall Synthetic blend. What do you all think about this rather odd experience?

I think it's rather odd. As for as performance (i.e., smoothness, quite, peppy, etc.), none of my cars can tell the difference between PYB, PP, or PU. The PYB is a Group II+ base and the PP and PU are both Group III base with the only difference being the strength of the additive packages.

Hey their Johnny!!

Well I`m darn sure not going to waste my last jug of YB. So,I`ll probably try it again, and this time clear the ecm. (just to see what happens) I don`t know, but I fiend these Lexus vehicles to be a little retarded some times.

You're referring to the ignition timing, right?

I sounds like I may have offended you re; my poor choice of word`s. And I apologize. Let`s just say it`s a rather odd vehicle at times.

And if I offended any one else,I`m sorry. Some times my personality/and choice of word`s is not the best. I mean no harm.

No worries. I used to throw that word around without thinking about it until I started noticing a hurt look on some people's faces at times. When I asked one lady in particular why it seemed like she was cross with me, she explained in plain language how hurtful it was to her as the adoptive parent of a child with Down's Syndrome. Boy did I feel like a clod! You would think since I volunteer for Special Olympics and United Cerebral Palsy that I would have been sensitive to these things. The word gets thrown around so casually in popular culture that I didn't even pay attention to it. Now I feel like I should defend the kids I work with and their parents from innocent remarks that are actually very hurtful.

No harm, no foul - I'm sorry if my comments made anybody uncomfortable.

"I'm sorry if my comments made anybody uncomfortable." not at all, thanx for calling me on the carpet for that one.

A lot of words used to be conventional and accepted [even medically], and are now artificially incorrect .

But the big change from the oils? Yes, odd to me too - there should not be that much difference.
We can sure expect to feel a small difference here and there, but things like this don't have obvious explanations.

PU is one of the most expensive oils over the counter, if your engine runs smoother with it then it is good for you, because you're the one who pay for it.

I tried many brands in my cars, never detected any differences of the same weight. The only oils that make my E430 run smoother/quieter is xW20 instead of M1 0W40. This car does not consume measurable amount of oil regardless of the oil was xW20 or 0W40.

I've had any number of different brands and weights in my cars, and never noticed any significant difference.
Yeah, the Accords rev more freely on an oil lighter than M1 EP 15W-50, but the difference would hardly be noticeable unless you had driven the cars a lot.
I've had PYB 10W-40 in the '97 Accord, and it ran very well with it.
It may just be that this particular Toyota engine prefers an oil at the light end of the grade?

If certain words are taboo because people are offended how do you describe the opposite of advanced timing on an engine?

Sometimes people are too sensitive.

The opposite of advanced timing is retarded timing, but that's not an insult to the timing. Using it as an insult is what hurts people.

I noticed over winter how much smoother Ultra was over reg yellow bottle Pennzoil. However, with >200k miles and it being really cold out I thought the oil was excellent.

So I can see you telling a difference with Ultra.

it just means 'slowed' or 'late' literally, people need to relax.

PS- ...where as the 'N word' was invented solely for disparagement of a group of people.

Europeans have been calling American cars retarded for a long time. It's not an insult, per se~, but more an observation of lack of "progressiveness".

That is, the term does have other uses than the out of vogue way of describing a level of mental capability.
