We're trying to get the CEL on my brother's car to go off. At the recommendation of my mechanic, we purchased the vapor canister and the purge valve. I found the purge valve, but I'm not sure where the canister is. Does anyone know where it might be? I tried looking online and the Haynes manual has no info on this.

Thanks in advance.

At the back underside of the car, behind a cover on the bottom underside of the spare tire well. The canister purge valve is here too, the valve under the hood is the vapor management valve.

That helps very much Jim. Thanks a lot.

I guess it's the management valve then, that's what I found and the part my mechanic recommended.

I saw that "cover" and thought that could be it. Thanks again.

The light is still on! Same code P0453, which is Fuel tank pressure sensor, high input.

Should we try replacing the sensor? He's already dumped a bit of money in this car.

I had him buy the "sensor". Ford actually calls it the "Fuel Tank Pressure Regulator Valve", a mouthful I know. $60 bucks, hope this is it! Just waiting for it to get here, I'll update afterwards.

We're relieved and angry.

We dropped the tank to put the new valve in, and the sensor for it was unplugged! We didn't put the new valve in, plugged it back in and viola, CEL off. Oh well, he wasted $132.00 on the vapor canister and management valve, but saved a ton on labor!

We took it to emissions and it failed because of the computer being reset

Oh well, a few days of driving and we'll try again.
