ok, This has probably been asked before, but I am confused.

I have a 2009 toyota corolla, which uses the toyota red/pink long life antifreeze. If I needed to top off my tank, can I use the Peak extended it says for all makes of vehicles. I tried to locate the Peak Global but can not find it. I found Texico long life for all vehicles at a dollar store, and this peak long life at walmart. I bought the Peak, would this be ok to use or not?

for a quick top off, I'd just drop some distilled water in and be done with it.

the peak global could mix, but it isn't like the actual OEM toyota concoction.

I know I am having a hard time finding the Global coolant. Im just shy of the full line, and I would like to keep some on hand. Maybe I will take this back and just break down and buy the toyota red at the dealer

If you're just shy of the full line but well above the min mark i'd just leave it as is. The full mark is where the level should be when the engine is hot, and the min mark is where it should be above when cold. If it's staying in this range you're fine.

It's not a good idea to mix coolants. You might need to go to your local stealership to get the pink stuff. They sell it for $20-$22.

yeah, I guess I'll break down and buy the Pink stuff. I take it the Red is the same as the Pink just not mixed, is this correct?

The pink and the red are different but can be mixed. Pink is 100k coolant, the red one is 30k-60k coolant. The main difference is that the Red coolant needs to be changed more often. The pink coolant they sell at the dealership comes pre-mixed.

gottcha, thanks guys. Im going to take the peak back and just go to the dealer and get the pink.

I wouldn't. Call toyota antifreeze overpriced, but it costs what? $20? How much is a gallon of generic stuff at Wal-Mart? $10?

Id prefer to have the right chemistry in there for such a nominal fee. One size fits all rarely is the best, IMO.

Only for Dex or G-05 do I feel comfortable with a non-OEM brand.

This is the smartest and easiest route. Get the pink super long life from Toyota if you don't use the Zerex Japanese vehicles type or Peak Global. As a side note,I think G-05 is the one antifreeze that I would not mix with the others without a system flush first.

that is what I was confused about. This peak says for ALL makes and models, well if each vehicle is different how can one antifreeze fit all vehicles, just doesnt jive with me

I think pink is 50/50 mix and Red is 100%...

Or at least that is what I saw last time I was in the Toyota dealership.

$20-22 for a 50/50 mix! What a "Deal"...

I picked up a gallon of Peak all models/colors 50/50 mix for my 2007 Toyota Tundra truck at Wal-Mart for $4.50 last week.

About what its worth.

TO the OP. Just top off the tank with distilled. I went 150k on my factory fill and replaced it with Peak Global lifetime. Car is 05 Corolla.

Take care, bill

Good Choice, it's not worth the 10 bucks your saving to deal with mixing coolant chemestries. Pick up a bottle of Toyota Pink and be done with it. Also Pink and Red are different coolants that have different chemestry. You MAY be able to mix them, but I never have, and can't tell you what will happen.

If you can't get Toyota Pink, you can get the Peak Global Lifetime, or the Zerex Asian Vehicle coolant at NAPA.
It's pricy though 15.99 a Gallon. For that price I'd just get the Toyota stuff.

An I wasnt clear - good point. I meant that aftermarket dex and G-05 for applications that took those fluids as OE.

True, and all good info. And, the red coolant Long Life is 100% full strength coolant and is actually less expensive. That said, they are both expensive, IMO.

For a top off with no adding water the pink will work.....

But it's no deal for sure.

Well the Peak Global was 10 bucks. I know the Toyota coolant is expensive but I only need 1 gal, so what the [censored], might as well buy it. And I would rather keep the orig fluid in there anyway
