You know what, i dont need to write this out, rolling around in the wet cold melted snow on concrete was bad enough.
Suffcied to say my inner tie rod change did not go according to plan.

Depends on what it is. I got some good deals on new old stock major brands on ebay, parts that were made in USA, potentially before production shifted overseas.

On the bright side, you didn't freeze or get mauled to death by wolves and lived to tell the tale.

Obviously they look visually different but can you elaborate on the brand or fake issue and which dimensions are a problem? Obviously one (the old one?) is longer, and the other looks like a larger diameter stud on the joint end. If it's a large scale seller on ebay then we might benefit from knowing who, so we can avoid that seller.

American guy shipped from America. I think someone got counterfeit parts or wrong ones.
The "moog" tie rod is too short

At least my compact crimping tool worked well for the boots. There is no way Im trusting a zip tie with the boot in the rust belt. That thing lets water in all day long.

Even Moog original parts are now of questionable quality than they were 10+years ago.

There are certainly deals to be had on eBay but you need to be careful.

For example I have a rotor for a Subaru Crosstrek. Sold the car and now the rotor sits on my shelf.

If you just want to spend money and be positive you can buy parts at the dealer.

I’ve found that the Mercedes dealer is close to the price on eBay for certain parts, brake rotors, pads, oil filters, air filters, so, in those cases, I visit the dealer, and not only do I save money, but I am certain that I have the correct parts.

I used to buy a lot on ebay but almost never buy anything there now. Its full of grifters.

You can still find some NOS parts that are no longer available - for all kinds of things though. If your unsure ask the seller. You can almost tell by the quality of the answer vs the answer itself how its likely to go.

Every blue moon I will get something from Ebay that appears to have been switched out with the correct part. Perhaps mixing up boxes, people unboxing and reboxing from an old auto parts stash, defunct business, etc. Tie rod ends are probably the worst, I got bit ordering one for a GM G body, and got an F body tie rod in the G body tie rod box.
