And you know this how? Driven it on a banked oval track at WOT long enough to get to top speed in an appropriate gear, and had it confirmed by a speed reading device? (the speedo is not accurate and generally is wildly optimistic).

He didn't say what units, so I figured the 228 was kph...

He's also in Canada. They use Metric. (Wish we could go metric, I like weighing less than 100. Ok, I'm 15 stone IIRC.)

I've piloted a few vehicles (off public roads of course) at speeds greater than 150, and it sure wasn't a one-handed affair where you could run a camera and/or point at the speedo- sht happens REAL fast at those velocities!




He seems to have a low tire and a CEL also.

+1 Good, I hope they impound the car fine him 50 grand, and toss him in jail. Innocent people around here die quite often because of morons like him. Maybe with a penalty like that you can fix stupid..........

Exactly! Back in 1988 a few of us wanted to verify that the E32 750i actually had a 155 mph speed governor. We used a two lane road that had a two mile stretch with no driveways or intersections- flat and ruler straight. It ram parallel to an interstate. One "team" had a VHS camera and the passenger was filming the IP from the rear seat to verify the top speed. During their run a state trooper on the interstate painted another target with I/O K band so of course the Escort in the 7er went off full scale. The driver hammered the brakes at @132 mph and the video camera went flying. Only a few people ever saw the tape but the part where the camera takes flight is pretty amusing.
