What is this stuff? I remember my dad telling me I should use it in the winter time. Is it a good additive? Does it just help with cold starts?

Its either methanol or Isopropyl alcohol.Stay away from Methanol. It separates water and attracts it but does not absorb it.Iso alcohol is better, but why add more alky to E10 fuel?

I love it but will usually buy other brands. This summer Target had 12 oz. bottles for $0.59. Being able to see out the windshield is a good thing.

Iso-HEET is just %99 rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol).

Its added in winter to suck up and mix with water so it can be burned up as opposed to choking up the engine, condensation in fuel tanks used to be a big issue, but now with E10 you have tons of alcohol in your fuel anyhow; its generally not necessary anymore.

I LOVE iso-HEET red (isopropyl) version. I use it every 3 months. While I was in CATCO converter training the speaker said it is excellent to keep cats clean. Either way, I like using it.

What good is the alcohol in gas going to do for keeping the windshield clean? HEET goes in the washer fluid.

HEET makes a range of products, they also make washer fluid concentrate, but most here believe its safe to assume he means the fuel additive. Especially when he said 'cold starts'.

And especially when it is in the Fuel and Fuel Additives forum.

Because, as others have already pointed out, HEET fuel additives are pretty much obsolete as a fuel additive. It still has its uses.
