Fram's website says to get filter PH7317, when the correct size is PH3593A.

ph7317 has a bypass at 13 psi and super small. ph3593a has a 12-15 psi bypass and is almost double the size of that.

I was curious what size oil filter my new 03 Accord uses, and since none of the auto parts stores have their 2003 filter catalogs yet, I checked out a few websites. I noticed Fram said my 03 Honda and 95 Hyundai used the same size filter (7317), but when I went to another site (AC Delco, I think), it gave two different sizes. After writing down all the numbers, I went down the street to Pep Boys and started pulling the filters out of the boxes and comparing them side by side. Turns out that every source *except* Fram's website gave the 3593A-equivalent size for my Hyundai.
maybe i missed it but what u can do is call honda and ask for the oem part number then cross reference it with wix, fram and other sites. then see what they can give you. i would think its still the same ph3593a filter.
I'm having similar confusion with Champion Labs over the proper filter for an Elantra. Wal-Mart's catalog makes absolutely no sense either. See Super-Tech filter confusion. Since ST numbers many filters like Fram there should be some parallels. Will post there if I hear anything.
I had an opportunity to get the '03 Accord on my ramps recently and got a visual of the factory filter. It definitely matches the 7317, NOT the 3593a (I use the 3593a currently in my '95 Accent, and the Accord filter is definitely smaller than the 3593a).
After doing a bunch of searching here, I found three possible oversize filters for the Accord: 3593a, 3985, and 2849a.
It'll be awhile before I get to test these; my first oil change is going to be a freebee at the Honda dealer.

The 3593 and 7317 are interchangeable. That monster 1.5L Accent motor isn't going to notice a difference. Either Fram doesn't think the Accent needs the bigger filter or the OEM Hyundai filter is ???? to begin with.

Tim, unless Honda relocated the oil filter on the new Accord's I4 engine you have, I don't see how you could get anything as large as a 3985 through the exhaust plumbing and up to the firewall side of the engine. I used Pep Boys (made by Purolator) "ProLine" PL-14459s on my '96 Accord I4 and it was a very snug interferrance to pass it up to the threaded mounting bib. Even the Honda filters from my dealer (Canadian-made) were a squeeze. Both of these are about 1/2" less in diameter than the 3985 filter. ST 2808s were an easy mount, and presumably their replacements, the ST 3593As would've been, too.
Thanks guys. I just looked at the Fram 3985, and picked one up, $3 at Wal Mart. The Fram book specifies 6607 (2002 Hyundai Accent 1.6L) which is small enough to fit inside a normal coffee cup. AcDelco filters are about the size of the factory filter (much larger than the fram). This Fram is even larger than the AcDelco, and looks to have the same gasket size.

I'm a little suspect regarding specified bypass pressures.
Considering the temperature extremes that an oil filter goes through, it would take a feat of engineering for a metal spring to maintain that consistent tension, considering the price of the entire filter!
I would venture to guess that bypass pressures decrease as the spring heats and could only be considered "nominal" in any case.
