I do agree thou the Jet Hot coating helps alot. I would take the Jet Hot coating over the wrap cause it looks so much nicer. But beware not all coatings are equal. Some just dont work.
My headers were Jet-hot ceramic coated not a imitation they are the jet-hot coating.
When I put them on I ruined the plug wires nearly instantly.
I installed the header wrap and while it made it much cooler in the car when I run it through the gears it burnt the plug wires up.
I bought some things from Jeg's that was good for 1100F and put them on my plug boots. First time I got on it they melted.
I bought some plug boot covers that were rated for 2200F and put more wrap on the headers and been good now for last three years.
I think I will change the wires this winter they have 3000 miles on them.
My car is a little different than what most have and what works well for most won't work for me.
If my engine was stock or only slightly modified it probably would be Ok without the wrap but as it is I would not consider trying to run it without the wrap.
$80.00 worth of plug wires every 50 to 100 miles is like the monkey p1$$ing on the cash register it soon runs into the money.
^^ Agreed your car/engine combo isn't like most out there.
Yet again, my gfs dads 87 Monte Carlo will run low 9s this year, I think 8 with nitrous, and they love Jet Hot/Similiar coating on their headers. No burnt plug wires to speak of

I have a friend that has a big block in a 68 camaro and he don't have anything on his headers but it has a lot more room under the hood.
That Monte Carlo would have even more room for air to circulate
On my car you can not even see the plugs much less remove them without removing the side panels. Good thing the GM engineers designed it with the removable side pieces because it is really tight under the hood.
It's what Olympic Coatings uses and they coat JBA's headers. I have a feeling that lots of other coating companies use Techline products and keep quiet about it.
