I just bought a new Tacoma with a V6 engine and Toyota calls for 5000 mile oil changes. I'd like opinions on dino oils in this engine such as Havoline and/or penzoil.

I don't know much, but from what I've heard, Halvoline is considered one of the best dino oils, and preferred over Pennzoil. I've also read good things about Castrol GTX and Valvoline.

You for sure couldn't go wrong with Halvoline though.

I haven't read anything all that great about Valvoline All Climate Motor Oil but, other Valvoline products seem to be held in high reguard.

Havoline all the way

. No doubt about it.

Enjoy that new truck!

I was going to say what everyone would agree with, if your OCI's are withing the proper spec based on the owners manual and your driving conditions, then even Vavloline All Climate would be AWSOME!! Agree? Yes, I agree too.

"Havoline's hydrotreated grp2 and penzoil is just straight up grp2; advantage havoline"?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

There both hydrotreated, as a matter of fact, all Group II oils are hydrotreated. Oh, by the way, the Pennzoil is Group II+.

I choose PENNZOIL. even in retirement.

we've seen the TBN on valvoline all climate to be totally shot in short oci on a couple of UOA's. I believe terry said once that Valvoline is skilled in formulating their oils to pass the mininum specs. correct me if I'm wrong
