Anyone have any thoughts or have done any analysis on havoline synthetic? Their dino has been reliable and consistent from what I gather, so how does the synthetic stack up?
Boy, I'd sure like to see the new Havoline Deposit Shield additives in the Havo synthetic product line, but I'm guessing from the picture of the new bottles that Deposit Shield is missing from the synthetic.
The Havoline Syn 5W-30 is 3700 cP @ -30, which is indeed a PAO-like cold crank rating.
Mobil does not list cold crank ratings on the current M1 product data sheet. The GF-3/SL M1 5W-30 was rated at 3600@ -30C per numbers posted on Bitog a couple of years ago.
Those numbers seem respectable to me....I want to make the switch to synthetic before the new truck goes into its first Maine winter. I was thinking M1, but don't want to be overcharged for G3 oil. I have been on a havoline dino kick for years, but now I own something worth the extra protection......sooo anyone else use this oil??
