so ive loaded up on the havoline syn 2 big lots, i wanna run 5k OCI`s, ive drive a 2003 mustang w/ the 3.8v6 w/ 68k on the clock w/ no leaks or consumption. I will be using either Wix, or Mobil 1 filters (possibly pureones also) do you guys think a 5k oci is safe or shouldmi extend it more? any helps greatly appreciated. btw my car specs 5w-20

sorry i forgot to post but im mostly @ highay speeds, id say at least 75% of my driving is at 60mph+ and it sees about 20 mile stretches of highway runs alot

I'd think 8k would be pretty easy with that setup. why not goto 5k then send in a sample for a used oil analysis and find out how far you can really go safely? If the results come back showing the oil about spent, change it. If not, try and get 8k and then sample again.

I bought same Havoline 5W20 Synthetic on sale at Big Lots and will change it and the filter around 4 - 5 thousand miles just depending on the amount of short trips I make or every 6 months whichever is first. One of our SUVs is used for longer trips - the other for running around town more. The larger one may not see that much mileage in 6 months so I change it at that time as the warranty calls for 6 month changes even with low usage during that period.

ya, I'm sure everyone stocked up on pennzoil platinum and havoline syn closeout prices and are doing 3k oci.
