I have 2 cases of 2005 vintage SM rated havoline before they went over to the DS type. I also have 23 qts of deposit shield. Both are 5w30 wt. Which is a better oil? I want the better oil to go in my good cars and the lesser in the not so good cars.
From what I've read, both are very good. The vintage one has more moly, will start thicker but shear down a bit. Whereas the DS has less moly (but still more then most other dino oils on the shelf), and starts off thinner but shears less.
I don't think I ever remember seeing anyone say anything bad about Havoline (or Chevron) oils. Generally the worse thing I remember reading is people saying it's not the value it used to be after they raised the price with the DS switch
