Havoline dino

I see Oreilly has Havoline dino on sale for $1.99 a quart. I`ve never used it or know anyone who has,but I think I`ve read here that it`s an awesome oil. How does it compare to say,Pennzoil conventional and Valvoline conventional? I`m guessing that at that price,it`s a heck of a deal,right?

I can't give you all the pertinent data but, $1.99 a quart on a solid dino is a heck of a deal. Use with confidence!

Grabbed two of the $12.99 HDS with a Puro Classic filter combo deals the last time AAP had them. And, I used one of those $10 off a $25 purchase which made it an especially sweet deal.

If I needed some I'd grab some HDS on sale. As comparison, $2.89 a qt. everyday at Wally.

Havoline was all I used before I found this site and it fouled up my view of oil. It always did me good. All of my engines are flat tappet motors, so I have been sticking with the HDDO's for a while now, but am thinking of making the switch back. The 30, 40, 10w-40, and 20w-50 still have a good ad pack if you look at their site and look in the motorcycle UOA section. When I put a new set of heads on my sbc 350 out of my work truck at 100k, it still looked like brand new inside. Had the oil pan off too, and the bottom end was also spotless. I have really been considering going back. At $1.99 a qt, it would be a good time to stock up. Thanks for sharing. Their 20w-50 is a smooth oil. You'd probably like it.

I just grabbed 15 qts of Mobil Clean 5000 for $1.99/qt at O'Reilly. Great deal. I'll stock up on filters at AAP this weekend with the $10 off on $25 purchase and be all set for the rest of the year.

$9.00/jug on clerance at Wally spring '09.
This is its second run on the HDS, with one more to go.
Seems like decent stuff, although I have done no UOA to back up that statement.

Awesome! That`s what I`ve read,that their 20W50 has the best add pack,and is one of the best 20W50s you can get,and even better since that`s the weight I always use :^)

Havoline is a great and reasonably priced oil. They don't advertize a lot. IMO, Havoline and TropArtic are two of the best kept low price secrets.

Havoline is an excellent conventional oil. Check out the used oil analysis section for results from it. Very good oil, it starts out a touch thinner than others (but still within the range for the weight), and usually doesn't shear as much as other oils. If you need an oil change, I say go for it and use it with confidence

It was a tossup when it came down to havoline and mobil 5000 for $1.99 at oreilly but I went with mobil 5000... plan on throwing it in my blazer to get it to an even # and after that run synthetic in it for 10K mile OCI...

It used to be the little darling of this site for a while. Sorta like the pennzoil products are now. There were several 10k oil runs on it back in the days of SL that were stellar. With the advent of the SM line, they joined the advertising ranks and the price followed sute. It also changed from an 11 cst oil to a 9.7 cst in the 5/10w-30 oil which really should have fit in on this "thin is in" site.

You did fine with the 5000 it's a fine oil.
