Havoline dino oil with auto-rx

Given Havoline conventional oil (the old formula) had a good amount of moly (>400PPM) in the oil. Did anyoneone has experience using it with auto-rx for both cleaning and rinsing cycles and how well does it works? I am thinking about using it for the auto-rx application on my cars this spring, just wonder how effective the cleaning and rinsing will be with this oil.

I will be doing this on my 91' Lincoln probably this weekend. I just got my ARX today. I also bought 5 cases of Havoline 5w30 on sale from AAP. All with 9/07/06 date codes, so it is a rencent batch of the "old formula". It will be a few months before I rack up the miles though.

I guess not too many people use Havoline oil with auto-rx. Is it because it's not very effective due to the high content of moly in the Havoline conventional oil or is it something else? BTW, where can I find the date code on the Havoline bottle?

I used Havoline 5w30 for both the clean and rinse phases of an Auto-RX treatment on my GF's 2001 Audi A4 1.8T. No issues at all with using this oil with Auto-RX, AFAIK.

Probably the reason why more people don't use Havoline is that most folks recommend using the cheapest API rated oil you can find with Auto-RX. While Havoline is pretty cheap, there are cheaper oils out there (Formula Shell, SuperTech, etc.) which would likely work just as well with Auto-RX.

Is there any advantage to using a "lesser" additive package oil, like store brands or 10w30 valvoline also with a lower group basestock? Will this help the ARX to be more effective?

I believe the only caveat is that you shouldn't use synthetic or synthetic blends. For my ARX treatment, I'm using some SL-rated QS I got on clearance at Home Depot for $.79/qt.
