I have for your amusement a cut open HASTINGS LF563 oil filter that was in use for 3K miles on my wife's 2022 Ford Bronco Sport with the 1.5L Ecoboost engine. Oil used was Quaker State Full Synthetic 5W-30.

Overall pretty happy with build quality. No excess glue or extra wide pleat spacing at the join seam. ADBV was still pretty pliable to the point I did a burn test to make sure it was not silicone but it burned black smoke indicating nitrile material. Louvers were also open and well defined.

Replace with a HENGST H14W32 oil filter and another round of Quaker State Full Synthetic 5W-30 oil.

That is an interesting base plate, almost looks riveted but I'm sure it's probably just stamped. Rounded louver designs too. Didn't Hastings get consolidated into another company buyout several years back?

Hastings and Baldwin do the deed fine but the design and materials give you a 1970s vibe but an honest vibe at that.. I have a bunch of these and the old Federated clones but they were cheap on Rock Auto but no longer a " I gotta have it brand"
Like a beauty past her time , life can be cruel that way 👉

That said, thanks for the c&p and all the effort required..

IIRC, Clarcor bought Baldwin in the 1980's and then acquired Hastings in the 1990's. Seems when Parker Hannifin took over Clarcor they ran Hastings as basically white canned Baldwins from everything I saw the last few years. I know Parker Hannifin dropped the Hastings line all together in 2023.

Thanks for the information (y)
