Has anyone put LC in ATF?

The instruction on the LC indicates that the product can be used in ATF by the amount of 3 oz.
Did anyone have put LC in his ATF since I have not noticed any such usage? Also what will be the exact doesage? My AT takes 4 quarts of ATF.

After puting 4 oz of FP to treat the 10-gal gas tank of my Echo, I asked my wife if she noticed any difference while driving the car. She recalled nothing really wrong except when she stepped on the gas pedal in the routine way, the car seemed to move faster.
 
Actually, isn't the appropriate dose 1oz every 10K miles for auto transmissions? That's what I've been using.
 
What about T-Cases that require ATF? And why not other applications such as manual transmissions / diffs...
 
I was wondering this also. According to the report on their site:

For automatic transmissions, 1.0 oz. or 30 cc for every 10,000 miles. Check ATF oil level while hot; do not overfill

Was wondering about a flush, and started a topic here.

LCD suggested I give Odis a call, but I haven't been able to yet.

Last night I looked at the direction on the LC jar which suggested 4 oz for ATF. It also suggested 16 oz for initial treatment for motor oil. The LC/FP web site indicates 1 oz per quart of motor oil during the initial treatment and then 1 oz per 1k miles of driving. Why are there discrepancies in their directions? Their web site also seems to play down the LC applications on ATF and PS fluid.
 
By the way the direction on the LC jar mentions that they are not responsible for any damages as the results of misuse by the customers. It sounds like the LC is a very strong solvent. It is ok to add overdose of FP, but apparently not LC.

The directions on the gal jugs are a somewhat out dated, but will cause no harm if someone uses those.

We changed our doseages according to Molakule's report, but Odis has not changed the graphic on the jug as that process is expensive to change.

On the misues portion, we do mean when concerning doesages, but also where it is put. We've had a customer put it in his Mercedes brake fluid (don't think he knew which cap under the hood was what) and let me tell you you NEVER want to go through that!

Did you have any data with Honda Power Steering Fluid? I want to add them to clean thing up. The previous owner of the car add regular power steering fluid and ended up with leaking. I replaced it with Honda specs power steering fluid and virtually no leak now but the fluid get dark very quickly.

Honda specs power steering fluid is not cheap!
 
farang, I have used LC in multiple Honda Power Steering Fluid units for about a year now with no issues. One was our car, one was daughters. I use it in all our family cars PSF.

Thanks. Now LC is filled in the engine oil and the PSF! What's next? ATF

Per Molakule's report

2.2.1 The recommended treatment rate of LC for engine lubes in 4-cycle gasoline or Diesel engines is 1 0z./Quart for the initial dose, and 1 oz. every 1,000 miles or 1,610 km. Do not overfill crankcase.

2.2.2 For 2-cycle engines ¼ oz. or 10 cc per gallon of Fuel/Oil mix is sufficient for this application.

2.2.3 For automatic transmissions, 1.0 oz. or 30 cc for every 10,000 miles. Check ATF oil level while hot; do not overfill.

2.2.4 For power steering systems, 0.5 oz. or 15 cc. Check Power Steering oil level and do not overfill. Check when Power Steering Pump is hot.

2.2.5 For industrial hydraulic systems, 1% by volume should be sufficient. For example, if the sump tank capacity for a hydraulic system were 5 gallons, the suggested dosage would be about 6.0 oz, for a ratio of 1:100.

2.2.6 Engine Flush at a dose of 4 oz./Quart or 120 mL/L of PCMO (16 oz. per four-quart sump capacity with the engine at idle for 15 minutes or less) immediately before changing to new oil.
 
I am not speaking for LC but the latest data I have is from their recent flyer , LC is recommending 3 ounces each 10,000 miles for ATF.

2 ounces LC for pwr steering unit.

Our testing from 2003 was a bit more conservative but I have no problem with the new recommendations.

In non Internal combustion engines LC will last much longer and so the reboost of product is not so critical.


I have specifically recommended dosages to my analysis customers based on knowledge of the unit or analysis results. There are some units and fluids that I do not recommend LC to be used in as it is not needed or for 'sealed units" that are still under warranty depending on the customers desires and capability to physically add it.

LC is not incompatible with any fluids that I am aware of but I want to recommend what the customer is comfortable with.

The paper Molakule and I produced that is on the website was done a year ago and based on nearly 2 year old testing, we weighted the recommendations on the conservative side. Since that paper was produced we have seen hundreds of analysis reports ( mostly in engines). Whether you undertreat of overtreat that amazing chemistry makes a positive difference and overtreat does not have negative results.

Our testing paper showed that too. We were very concerned about depolymerizing VII and ester adds in motor oils and we are not seeing that in increased dosages.

Properly used the product needs the owner to fine tune the lower base recommendations. Use observation, experience, possibly analysis to confirm.

Think of the LC/FP products as a chemical tool to moderate oxidation and cleanliness in the lubricant you treat.

I believe that LCD order a lot of printed bottle (to get a cheapest cost on the bottle). Now if they order a bunch of new lable, it would cost a bit. Plus, sticker or label won't stick well on #2 plastic.

I write the updated dose on both bottle using a marker.

My suggestion to LCD: Print small sticky label (like 2x3) that said "visit our website for updated dose"

Nah, you should be safe...it's not like you put in 12oz over.
