Has Anyone Installed A Screen Protector On Their Vehicle's Touchscreen ?

Yes. We have one on our 2017 Toyota Camry. It does fine with it on there it’s been on there since we bought it in 2017 it’s the first thing my mom bought for it. It’s not one of the glass ones it’s just like a plastic film screen protector. It’s held up it’s mainly there just to protect from scratches and fingerprints. I haven’t seen one that requires the screen to be wet. This one was just like a phone screen protector you use the dust sticky to get dust off after wiping it with the cleaning cloth then slap it on there it already has the sticky on the back.

For me it’s easy to just clean the touchscreen itself. One spray of a good interior cleaner on a microfiber and wipe it. Now if you have eternally dirty or oily fingers then a protector might be of benefit but you still have to clean the protector. So I’m not sure what is gained here.

Constant use will result in your fingers dragging dirt and detritus around the screen. Shine a light on an older touch screen and enjoy the spiderwebs.

The glass takes all the abuse and you can easily replace it with a fresh screen, keeping your factory screen protected.

I don't see the need. It's not a cell phone that you may drop on the ground. They are designed to withstand normal use and I've never had any issues wiping the screen clean of fingerprints etc. I keep a small microfiber towel to wipe down the screen whenever I want to.

I put a screen protector on my Impala's touch screen when the car was new, and it was easy to install. I set it in place lightly and made sure it was lined up properly before pressing it down and getting the air bubbles out. Had to give it a couple of tries before it was lined up properly. It's made out of tempered glass, so no scratches on it yet. And fingerprints wipe off easily.

question about "tempered glass". Is it really made of glass? That type of screen protector for my iphone appeared to be just sheet plastic.

I have used Nushield DayVue to restore the screen in my BMW F10. Short story - my factory screen was perfect. It was in the dealer for some work, including replacing the CIC (nav etc...) computer under warranty due to some screen driver issues. I didn't pick up on it for months until the lighting was just right but I didn't get my screen or dash wood trim back, but someone else's identical pieces except for all the scuffs and marks.

I had no recourse or proof especially with the amount of time which passed. I removed the screen and disassembled, purchased a piece of dayvue which was pre-cut to fit UNDER the bezel (no visible edge to the film) and polished off what remained of the factory matte coating with plastic polish. The DayVue is glossy, enhances contrast, and any reflections are a very deep blue hue. Only the direct orb of the sun itself is a problem. I'm pretty happy with it. Overall I would consider it superior to the original coating.

Now - it's not a touch screen so it might not be what you're looking for. Nushield probably has films specifically meant for touch if DayVue is not touch compatible.
