Harbor freight electrical tape

I've only ever used 3M electric tape. I know better than to buy it from HF.
Recently, I tried sandpaper from HF. Absolute trash. Tried two sheets and the rest went in the garbage. I also just tried a paint roller from there as well. I had just painted a room in my house with a Purdy roller and it rolled out beautifully. I second coated with the HF roller pad and was less than impressed. I like their floor jacks and other stuff but like I always say, some of their stuff is still junk.

Purdy and Wooster is all I use for brushes and roller sleeves. You can get by with the higher end lowes brushes in a pinch.

I'll pile on here. The 3M is the best I have used. I do have some Harbor Freight tape and its awful. I don't like throwing out things that might have some use, so I use it for various things but nothing important.

Really? Project Farm tested 7 brands four years ago. Harbor freight was not the best but did pretty well.
Just my experience with that tape - It practically melts and the adhesive was not very strong. It would always unravel and come unglued.

Just watched the project farm video, I'm surprised harbor freight tape performed as well as It did. 👍

Scotch 33 or Tesa tape only. Tesa fuzzy or cloth tape if you want to replicate US/European OEM wiring harnesses, Scotch 33 does look like Japan’s preferred vinyl tape.

Tesa tape has a small following in car audio as of late.

I’m sure the HF stuff would be good for taping up coils of wire if you’re okay with the black residue that’ll get left behind.

I’m a super 33 fan myself.

When it comes to reviews, I trust Project Farm. He appears to have no bias and just reports the facts. These facts sometimes hurt people's feelings about certain things, but oh well.

I understand his reviews don't test EVERYTHING, but they do give some valid data points. His tests are much better than someone's "my brother's buddy's dad's son's friend said it sucked" or some yahoo doing an unboxing giving their "expert" opinion.

I have used HF electrical tape and it works. I would rather buy the Scotch 33 or 88 tape as it is made in America and that should count for something.

I personally think some companies use the "made in America" moniker to charge WAYYY more than they should, but oh well. Channellock and Klein tools have competitive prices with the the other tool makers that make their crap overseas.

all we used at work was Scotch super 33 plus and the 88 is great stuff,,also we had some Plymouth tape that was really good .I would avoid some of the lower imported tapes unless you are taping a ax handle.

Forty years in the utility business and it was always 33 or 88 for general purpose work .
