Had Difficulty Picking Up My Dropped CBR300

Over my past 50 years of motorcycle riding, I had to pick up many a dropped bikes. Varied from dirt bikes > H-D baggers. That said, if I now were to drop/tip over my Can Am Spyder RTL, I doubt I'd be in any shape to upright it
Lol, how could you drop or tip over a Spyder??? Probably don't deserve to pick it up if somehow that got upside down, haha.

They taught us a technique at the motorcycle safety foundation course. You’d basically chuck your hip against the seat while trying to roll the bike forwards into a sharp turn. It’s been a while … one hand to keep the handlebars turning and one maybe behind the seat, but most of the force was through your legs and hip, not as much through back and arms (though still a good bit). You did lift the bike but you were also implementing the turn and angle of the front wheel to help. My bike was 450 pounds and I’ve never been a muscular fellow and the technique was good. Mine fell over twice, both times when I dismounted and forgot to drop the kickstand, thankfully.

We bought a CBR500R for a family member. I used to steal it often, very agile and fun. Added a windshield, heated grips, power port.

Dropping bikes happens….

We usually carry some nylon strap and a couple anchor shackles in case it’s down a slope.

Some good tips here.

A couple years ago I dropped my Road King while playing around in a parking lot doing slow speed maneuvers. I'm guessing it weighed about 730-750 pounds. I've picked up bikes in the past, but this time I was concerned. I had my right knee replaced a few years earlier, and my left knee has a habit of popping out on me without warning. And as luck would have it, there was no one in the parking lot to give me a hand getting it back up. So I slowly did the backwards butt on the seat trick, and slowly walked it up. I was hoping It would work, because calling for a tow truck and a ambulance would have really been embarrassing.,,

A current Road King is more like 830 lbs.

My son dropped my ~770-lb BMW touring bike when he was moving it one night to be able to park in the garage. He couldn't lift it, so he came and got me. That sucker feels HEAVY to pick up. However, I was surprised to find it felt a touch EASIER to pick that bike up than a 500 - 525lb Honda (plus probably 50 - 75lbs of cargo in the luggage and on the seat) a few years ago.

There's a lot involved in how heavy a bike feels, or how difficult it is, when you try to up-right it.
