Gym uses MMO to lube weight racks.

While at the gym this week, I noticed one of the employees going around to all the machines with a spray bottle and cloth. He would spray the red fluid on the cloth and wipe down the racks and guides on the machines. (He was wearing gloves, thankfully) Oh, the bottle was also labeled "mystery oil". When at or by the machines recently wiped down, I could distinctly smell horrible wintergreen aroma of MMO.
What are your thoughts of using MMO as a machine lube? Anyone hear of this? Also, should there be any concern in breathing in the fumes of MMO?

Actually, it smells absolutely great. I think it should be a great lube for chain and rollers and that sort of stuff. When you put it in a combustion engine I have my doubts; those aromatic chlorine containing molecules might become corrosive.

I haven't seen the good smelling stuff in the the can; I do have a Marvel red can of wd-40-like solvent/lube which smells terrible and is totally different stuff than MMO.

Smells way better than any wd-40 type spray lube,heck it smells so good sometimes I have the urge to try some.

It smells so good! The first time I took a wiff of it, I wanted to chug the bottle.

Armstrong tools use mmo to lube their ratchets FWIW.
