Gumout Regane Vs. Chevron Techron

What's the effect of these fuel additives on the oil? Can they contaminate the oil and require an early oil change?

Amazon has Gumout Regane which does 21 gallons out of a smaller bottle for a smaller price, so higher concentrate. the auto store ones seem to be less concentrated. You're right, this small bottle works for more gallons compared to the big bottle.

1200 RPM is not practical at all for me. I have been driving normally. Infact stupid me I floored it few times thinking it would work better that way SMH

Flooring it does help in that the higher temps will help burn off carbon buildup. This is colloquially called the Italian Tune-up. I floor it about once every other week using TT gas.

But generally yes, the best way to use the cleaners is at low load, low RPM.

Depends on your engine of course, b/c my A25A-FKS engine uses port or direct injection in low (interstate cruising) and high load situations, respectively. To get the injectors cleaned, it does need occasional high RPM.

Never done a UOA on it, so don't know. However, I do honor Chevron's recommendation of no more than 1-2 Techrons between oil changes, and to prevent effects from potential dilution I'll typically only add it < 800 miles before changing the oil.

I'm also not skilled enough to detect "that gas smell" in used oil, as all used oil smells the same to me lol

Can't answer the dilution question accurately. In theory, I would suspect some dilution. You would have to ask one of the MANY well trained oil experts on this forum regarding that dilution situation. I'm just a Joe Schmo with a plethora of semi-useful knowledge that mostly came from trial & error throughout the years, and years, and years,,,,,,of trial & error

Me too. I don't quite reach a true "floor it" condition, but I like to see 4000-4500 rpms once a week for 10-15 secs. Merging onto I-10 is a great place to accomplish that.

If you buy the 8oz 12 pack it's under $4 for 80 gallons. 1oz per 10 gallons. Has PEA but not sure how much.

So for about $1 a tank you can have a fuel stabilizer that also has a cleaner.

I'm not " flooring" an 03" Toyota Solara / 2AZ-FE 4cyl / auto trans with 128K on the ODO. Who knows what will break @ 4-5k RPM's. I drive her nice & easy. I get high beamed, honked at, flipped off, they go around me.......& meet them all at the next red light. HaHaHa. I do get her up to 85-90MPH on the highway though. That's gotta clean something out. Takes a bit to get the tub up to speed. I'll just keep dumping a bottle of Chevron or Gumout in the tank every now and again, and clean the throttle throat with CRC throttle body cleaner. If it ain't broke, I ain't breakin it ( even though ain't, ain't a word, so I've been told ) I'm retired anyway. Don't drive it much. Sits in the garage with fuel stabilizer in the tank. Takes me forever to burn thru a tank of gas.
