I found some good pictures of a 01-jr, I think they dropped production twenty years ago, one of Ralph Woods favorite little filters, he was a dealer for Gulf Coast back then, these filters a very elusive to find, you'll find a Motor Guard M100 before one of these it seems.

Gulf Coast filters at one time were Frantz dealers. They specialized in installing the Frantz diesel filters on heavy duty marine engines mostly in the Gulf of America. At some point Frantz went out of production. Charlie Sims needed filters to replace the Frantzs. The Gulf Coast junior was to replace the small Frantz. A lot easier to service. When Charlie passed away his top salesman took over. He is a big marine diesel engine guy and dropped the little filters. I have a few on riding mowers and a Farmall H.

You can always depend on the BS stories. One guy says the ports break out. The Gulf Coast junior is Glass filled nylon. If you over tighten the fittings the ports will stretch. My old Ford f250 has a San Leandro Motor Guard on the 390 and a Gulf Coast junior on the transmission.

The Gulf Coast junior is similar to the Australian Jackmaster Classic the Jackmaster Classic uses a center bolt and is die cast aluminum. I dont use the Jackmaster Classic elements so I use long nosed pliers to remove the paper. When you pull out the core the wagon wheel and the used element comes out with it. The core serves no other purpose. Its about 1 3/8 inch

Talking about the center tube on the Gulf Coast junior. The Jackmaster Classic has no center tube and doesnt need one.

They went with the knob clamp. Probably cheaper than the lever clamp. Frantz had the better clamp and charged extra for it. It was worth the extra cost. They were adjustable. The origional was non adjustable.

At one time Gulf Coast filters specialized in installing the Frantz filters on heavy duty diesels. Frantz made the 2 3 and 4 stackers. They are gone now. The FAA and PMA approved AeroFrantz is also gone. The multi roll Frantzs were very effective but a mess to change. They were replaced by single and double roll filters. They used Bounty Big roll paper towels. Dont know what they use now. They put them in a bag.

If I had concerns I would install a good secondary filter and use paper towels right out of the package. Some truckers use Costco towels.
