Thought I would cut in before Zee09 brought up a different color. What about green? Pontiac had Vedoro Green in 68- 69 and it was sprayed on many cars of the period as it waas popular. Also, they had an emerald available on the mid 60's GTO that I thought was beautiful. Some racers said green was unlucky due to a crash but others did flaunt the color.
Just thought I would silip one in. Jim may bring up pink soon.
I bought a 1985 Olds Delta 88 Royal 2 door (coupe) on my birthday in April of 1992 with 47K miles on it and it had a blown trany and I knew that and got the price down to cover repair. Had the trany rebuilt by a very good shop and had them put a slight improved shift kit in it for towing and extra trany cooler on it. Pulled out the full bench front seat and put 60/40 split front seats in it ( green in a 60/40 was very hard to find, got it from a 1983 Olds stationwagon in Stoystown Auto Wreckers ). I had to also install the center seat mounts for the 60/40. Kept it in a garage and drove it until March of 2020 with 168K miles on it. Mine was green like the 4 door in the pictures, and it had the 1/2 vinyl back roof top. Called it the green monster. What a nice car to drive around in with my bad back. Like driving the living room couch down the road. Absorbed jolts from pot-holes almost like they were not even there. I put an Espar gasoline fuel fired heater in the trunk with hot air outlets piped to the back window deck blowing forward, and also hot air piped to below both front seats. For my bad back I modified the power brake booster so it the brake pedal was as easy to press as the gas pedal. Put a Kenwood stereo system in the dash with a Kenwood Music Keg with an 80 Gig hard drive loaded with 2000 songs mounted in the trunk on thick soft foam. And put 4 of the best speakers that Fieldcrest stereo recommended to match that stereo in it.
I could pack 2 weeks of gear to stay at a rented cabin with its own dock at Lake Arthur ( Moraine State Park ) and also connect my 18 ft. Chrysler Buccaneer Sailboat to the trailer hitch and enjoy to weeks at the lake most summers.
What a land yacht. I still miss her, but the engine was dying and in general age was showing everywhere. I hated to see her go. That car was a real pleasure to drive. One of those cars that brings a smile to your face as you walk towards it knowing you are going to be driving it. Many good years and many good miles.
