Smokey1 sorry to hear about your better half.

I have always liked Green Tea but didn't know it was so good for me and that there was such a difference in qualities.

I like the Lipton Green Tea, but nothing has matched the expensive Green Tea I'm buying that is supposedly imported from Japan.

It's Mt. Fuji Green Tea from the Tanabata company in Japan ?!?

If you like the Lipton, try Arizona if it is available. I think it is much better. Arizona is available just about everywhere here, but I don't know about Canada.

I can talk to my Coke contacts at work and find out a place in Canada as Arizona is a Coca-Cola company. Plus I only live 40 mins from the US border so I can get it next time I'm over if its too hard to find here...

Thanks for the info!

Not good... Runs in both sides of my family a long with a whole host of problems that I'm not looking forward to possibly encountering later in life.

Got the brutally debilitating Migraines and Anxiety already, don't need anymore $#!@ on my plate if you know what I mean.

she was told by doctor that the migraines she had and family history likely to be the reason for her mini-stroke . Takes strong dose of aspirin and other med for prevention . I too have problems with migraines and anxiety . We've been getting high dose of stress thanks to a neighbor . So drink your tea and relax in the easy chair . Wish you and others well .

I read that fresh coffee has 4 times the anti oxidants as green tea.
AS long as you don't hammer your adrenal glands into puny ineffective masses [with excessive coffee consumption], coffee is being touted for it's benefits, now.
Kinda like eggs - good for you, then bad, then really bad, then not so bad, and now up to good with a few asterisks.

Yeah I know, when I had my first Hemi-Pelegic Migraine at the age of 13 I was rushed to hospital because the thought I was having a stroke. I got there and they did a battery of tests and found out I have this stupid type of migraines. They used to be once a year when the season change and then started coming more frequently in the last year and it was as bad as a couple times a week at one point!

This is when I started to get proactive and try to solve what was causing them. I still haven't found the cause but I know what helps to trigger them and so I try to keep away from the triggers. Lack of sleep and high stress are the top of the triggers list so I have fixed those problems.

The Doctor told me that because I have these type of migraines that I'm at a higher risk for stroke and cardiovascular disease because it has something to do with the blood vessels.

Get the bagged or loose stuff, not the bottled.

Will check that out... Thanks!

My ND told me that this is why I was experiencing the morning anxiety, sleepless nights and migraines because I over taxed my adrenals with caffeine, long hours and stress. This is in part because I'm the type of guy who has a hard time saying know and I want to do as much as I can. It's hard for me to unplug, but I'm realizing know that not doing so is starting to weigh heavily on my health and that is not good.

I've been drinking exclusively Chinese teas for the past couple of years. They have quite a variety teas and learning all that is mind boggling. My preferences are:

- jasmine tea (green tea infused with jasmine flowers);
- puer tea (fermented green tea, the older it is the more valuable it is, comes in a pressed disk form);
- long jing tea (a strong green tea that's almost red tea);
- flower tea (green tea with jasmine and other flowers, is a round ball that opens up into a beautiful flower in hot water).

What they call 'red tea' in China is what we call 'black tea' here. What they call 'black tea' in China is a really strong dark tea.

The rule of thumb usually is the darker the tea, the more bitter it becomes. You have white tea on the milder end of the bitterness continuum and black tea on the other end. Green is at the milder end of the continuum.

Also, you might want to look at drinking tea in a ceremony style. Visit a local Chinese or Japanese store (I think Teavanna stores in upscale malls sell them, too) and get the small teapot and the small cups. Also, get the small tabletop stand that goes under it. It's very relaxing to prepare small batches of tea in the teapot and drink in small cups. It can take up to an hour to squeeze all the goodness out of the tea leaves as they can last 5-6 rinses.

I can highly recommend these guys: http://www.specialteas.com/

They offer many types of tea at all price ranges. Their cheapest are better than you will find most anywhere.

The Japanese vs Chinese is a matter of taste. I find that I prefer the Chinese teas in most types. The gunpowder is one of my favorite green teas. The Japanese teas taste too much like hay to me.

Coffeebeandirect has a bunch of great teas at a reasonable price.

I don't know if they ship or not.

In the winter I drink at least 3-4 cups of green tea a day. I don't like hot dark tea unless it has cream and sugar. I the summer I drink a bunch of sun tea cold with no sugar. So I switch in the winter.

I normally like the green tea with mint in it. Has a nice flavor and warms me up, without making me too jitter like coffee.
