I know that SafetyKleen picks up used oil at our local walmart.

Green Earth Technologies

Its made at their plant in Guymon Oklahoma.

Dr. Mat Zuckerman is also behind the "Monster Diesel" products.

It could be a groupIII/IV/V oil with a drop of animal fat which would be sad.

The rebate looks like its for a 'garage' oil change with their product. So, you get the Walmart quicklube to do your oil change and mail in the rebate. Not worth it.

API SN/GF5 is out. If they don't adapt, they'll be obsolete already.

Is this just a test market item, regional, or the real deal national roll-out? Has this been spotted anywhere else?

If it meets API SM, the oil should be suitable for most users in most applications.
No worries there.
Environmentally, though, it isn't the base oil that is entire problem, rather, the wear metals that contaminate used oil represent a threat to the environment.
The oil out of the jug may be fully biodegradable.
The used oil is loaded with wear metals and fuel, which are not.
Still, if this product is made from animal fats, is it a Grp V oil?
If so, it might have great cleaning potential, and would be a good value at the offered price.

Water is safe to drink, yet if you don't mix it with undrinkable chemicals in your cooling system it will corrode your engine and ultimately destroy it.

Care to think of a diiferent reason to reject new and therefore scary things?

Nope, my reason is good enough for me.

Eco this and Eco that, its just now a catch phrase. Think I will go out and by some Eco friendly bio-degradable lead fishing weights or some eco friendly plutonium too.

Green Earth Technologies = Tree Huger Technologies.

Aren't trees just a long term harvestable crop if you look at it.

Lets use natural gas more instead of subsidizing wind and solar if we really want to make a clean up effort. Wind and solar can come on board when the do not have to be subsidized so heavily.

What about the mercury inside fluorescent lights that are supposed to be so wonderful for the environment, bet like 2% recycle these and the rest go in the trash right along with the mercury in each.

I was at the liquor store...CARBON NEUTRAL ECO ORGANIC VODKA...... almost needed to be rolled out on a stretcher because I couldn't stop laughing. Straight from California and it was not cheap either. The hippies lined up for it too. Its genius marketing for the brainwashed followers.

The VOA of the racing oil was weak. But, they are using 'nano-technology'. Borg nanites will protect and rebuild your engine as you drive.

No data, no explanation of what it is, no patents(I like reading them), msds gives nothing, .......only good thing is that its label states 'full synthetic' and 'API SM', but so does $4/qt store brand synthetic.

I just want to know what they're doing without the gobbledygook marketing bull.

My Walmart has it as well so I do not believe it's regional.

My Walmart her in the northern part of Iowa has this oil too. I was looking at it and what I noticed is that "energy conserving" or "resource conserving" is missing from the lower half of the API donut.

Be interesting to see the specs because I suspect this might be a thicker 5w30 whose vis @ 100 is more in line with the high mileage oils on the market

and here I thought this place would love an API SM rated lubricant that had no dependency on middle eastern or foreign oil.

Because there's the word "green" on the product the real Murkuns on this board have to [censored] all over it.

Lets put it this way, if you can drink it, then there is no zddp,ws2, moly etc. whats going to protect the cam under spring pressures? pig fat? What is the second line if defense when the first line of lubrication fails?
Feel free to use it and let us know how it works.
It seems if you put the word eco or green on it, pt barnums finest line up.

It's an SM rated oil, which means it MUST have an additive package to control deposits, etc. Some people, I know, have a hard time actually reading and learning about what they talk about and seem to get pleasure out of belligerent ignorance of the world around them.

P.S. the word you were looking for is potable. That means something that is fit for drinking. Since it is an SM rated oil, it is not p-o-t-a-b-l-e.

Learning new words can sometimes hurt your head, but keep trying it'll get easier.

Hey spasm3...I'll mail a case of G-Oil to whatever address you want on my dime, and if you video yourself opening the sealed case on camera and taking an unopened quart of it and drinking it and posting the video on YouTube, I'll mail you $100 dollars...

Deal?

Unused motor oil has very little toxicity, whether it's conventional or synthetic or this bio oil.

Here is the MSDS forPennzoil Platinum 5w30:
http://www.epc.shell.com/Docs/GSAP_msds_00018715.PDF

"Ingestion : In general no treatment is necessary unless large quantities are swallowed, however, get medical advice"

Every MSDS I've seen for motor oil looks the same in regards to toxicity. They are non-toxic.

Being biogredable isn't the issue. You could dump new dino in a lake or in your backyard and it'll biodegrade without harming much. The problem is the contaminants in used motor oil, and that holds true regardless of how green the oil is.
