I was in my local Wal-Mart and they are now carrying Green Earth Technologies Full Synthetic Bio-Based Oil in 5w30 in both 5 qt jugs and single quarts.

I would feel better about this new oil if it had an API starburst on it. AMSOil, RP, other refiners/blenders have their name behind it. New oils don't. It makes me fear a little.

I would try it!! But first I have to use my 30 quarts of Valvoline Syn and Quaker State Ultimate Durability, oh yeah, and the Mobil 5000 I have stashed....lol

Stupid question here: If it is not petroleum based, would the API still rate it? Maybe some other lube-lab certification?

Wow, nice. They were having a $10 off sale at Amazon, which brought the price to $31.50 for a 6 quart case. This is about the same price per quart.

I like the idea of an affordable oil that's completely bio-based.

If it was completely unlicensed, I'd be a little hesitant to try it. At least it meets API SM.

Oh, interesting. I had not considered that when posting my previous statement. However, I would imagine they will rate anything with a "motor oil" label on the front, but that's just a guess.

It would be nice if they released the PDS instead of the MSDS so we could possibly see the starting TBN. I really want to use this in the wife's car because she loves buying truly "green" products and I think this would qualify as one.

I have a whole bunch of stupid questions, but No I would not use it, as I don't believe using regular motor oil is destroying the planet when disposed of properly. So why pay double because it comes in a green bottle?

From the MSDS: "This product is rated Ultimate Biodegradable in which it will biodegrade greater than or equal to 60% in 28 days."

When does that degradation begin?

Are they encouraging you to pour it out on the ground? If not, then what's the difference (from any other oil) if you take it to a recycling facility?

Its says "full synthetic" and price is right in line with the rest of them.

Whats a bottle of Lubegard or Autorx cost? quart of RLI?

The company might be too small to pay for all the little symbols everyone wants. Its tough when you just sold your '1st' bottle of oil to the supplier profit killers of Walmart's purchasing agents.

Beef/Chicken/Pork fat based motor oil. Should be good.

Wonder what else is in it?

At first glance, I thought it was a SafetyKleen recycled oil product. Can anyone say who makes this oil?

I know that SafetyKleen picks up used oil at our local walmart.
