It was for cars with 17" wheels, steel or aluminum IIRC. The issue was that the studs could fracture. Something about the new lug nuts must prevent this from happening.

Here's the straight info from Ford. Ford issued a safety recall 11S23 covering 17" steel wheels on some '10 and '11 Fusions and Milans. Curvature in the wheel/brake mounting surface causes bending fatigue in the wheel studs.

Once you resurface rotors, they are now even thinner and would wrap more easily. Many years ago, I had Ford dealer put on new rotors twice during the warranty period on my SHO. I did not accept re-surfacing as remedy.

True, I know they are thinner now. But lots of people get rotors turned without any ill effects. What I'm saying is that I think the pulsating from before was the result of a faulty break-in procedure. Hopefully that won't happen again. Only time will tell, though. But I've got plenty of time in the warranty remaining.

I have a paid for 10 year old truck and the local dealer (who did not sell the truck) has always been great about prompt service. I do check behind them and don't have any complaints with their work.

Not all dealers are evil.
