Bernard edwards - good times.
When the Lead Vocalist plays the Bass....They're songs tend to be bass heavy. Primus & Type O Negative are prime examples.
Slayer is an example of a Lead Vocalist playing Bass, But the Bass Lines are more in the background.
I'm not a big "The Who" fan, but John Entwistle plays hardcore on the song "Eminence Front"

Heard this on the radio the other day (ha!) , and I thought, "wow! great bass playing" and tone and prominence by the pop bass master on this simple but amazingly succinct and tidy pop tune:
