So I got me some Redline 0w30 coming. It was really hard to pick the weight to go with seeing as all the oils seem to have varying good numbers in different areas.
I think the 0w30 will be a great fit for my Santa Fe and I'm looking to switch over to it after this current fill of Amsoil I just put in is due for a changin'.
What I liked about the 0w30 was the great HTHS numbers, cold pour point which is better than my current Amsoil, and the other important numbers.
By the time I'm ready to pour it in it will be fall and the temps by then should be dipping below 0C (below 32oF) at night so it will be interesting to see how it starts in the cold.
Bought me enough for 3 changes... Going to do a shorter than normal run on the first dump-in in case there is some cleaning going on with all that POE in there from my first run with Redline, then I will do my normal Amsoil interval on the second run of Redline, and then on the third I will do the same interval and send in a used oil analysis to see how it is holding up in my engine.
I will be running all the Redline fills with an Amsoil EAO filter which I will continue to change at 20K KM (12K miles) as I do now with Amsoil just so I can compare numbers to numbers of Redline vs Amsoil in my application.
Amsoil and Redline work out to be the same cost for me, as the Redline dealer is a hop/skip/jump away from me here and Amsoil I have to have shipped. So with shipping the cost is the same unless I happen to be in Mississauga and pick it up from the warehouse. (Rare for me these days).
If Redline looks superior in my used oil analysis I will be sticking with it. I have heard only good things here and seen only excellent used oil analysis.
Excited to see the results... And will keep y'all posted.
