Got a free Poulan hand held blower

My roommate's granddad had a 2 year old Poulan Pro hand held blower that would not start with a new plug and fresh gas, so he gave it to us to tinker with. I took the plug out of the head and it had strong spark, the carb and fuel lines appeared clean, and the air filter was clean. It did seem a little weak when trying to start, but there was definitely some resistance; I didn't test it because I don't have a compression tester at home and I'm not buying one for a free Poulan. I took the engine cover off to check the exhaust when I noticed fresh gas/oil seeping from the head. Sure enough, the two head bolts were loose. I tightened them down and it started up on the second pull. Free working blower! It's not ready for the dumpster yet, but that sure is sorry [censored] quality.

I like mine. 3 years and it still starts on the third pull.

I plug mine in. The only pulling I have to do is on the extension cord when I'm done.

They call them poo pin for a reason. don't expect it to last long. My poulan chainsaw looks new because it hasn't started since year 2. (low compression) Thats how I got it for $25. I parted it out.

I believe they make the Craftsman blowers? Mines coming up on 3 years and going strong. I have heerd numerous reports of the head bolts coming loose and causing similar problems. Should work well for you. My next blower will be an Echo or another high quality brand. For now, my Craftsman does what I need it to.

Check back in 10 years and let is know how they are running. 3 seasons is nothing for a handheld blower. You have to take into consideration that it isnt used 12 months a year...

As far as time on the machine goes, you're right, three seasons is not much. Just be careful that the machine doesn't sit around with gas in it, your fuel system will love you for it

Glad you go it for FREE, that's about all their worth.
When it quits running just throw it away..

I'm shocked the fuel line had not disintegrated, this is quite common with these..

I've dealt with 3 of those Poluan/Craftsman blowers. All lost compression within 3 years of use and had other starting/running problems during that time. Absolute garbage.
