I paid good money for Mobil 1 synthetic NLGI 2 (red). I greased all the balls (on the car) with it. I put the grease gun on the shelf and walked away.
Four months later I picked up the grease gun. It was dripping red oily blood. The grease in the tube looked grainy and sort of dry. It was smooth, overly sticky, but not especially slick, in my fingers.
Next, I popped the top off the Mystik JT-6 that I bought 5 days after the Mobil 1. It looked perfect. No bleeding. Shiny. Sticky, but silky smooth and super slick.
Also, I noticed that the joints I had greased with Mobil 1 four months ago were kind of deflated. Not cool.
Needless to say, I ditched the Mobil 1, popped the Mystik into my gun, and pumped up all the joints with that lovely JT-6.
P.S. Mystik JT-6 No.2 with 3% Moly
