The filter on my son's 93 Buick Regal GranSport is all but unreachable and extremely difficult to tighten/remove by hand is is completely unreachable with any type of tool. I believe that a filter with the friction grip like on a Fram would be a nice feature. However, I, like most on this forum, am not too fond of Fram filters. Any suggestions for a decent (and inexpensive) filter with a friction grip? I believe Advance Auto's in-house brand is a Purolator and has the friction coating like a Fram. Do you think this is the best I can do? Thanks in advance.

I believe Purolator Pure One filters have the non-slip grip coating now. They are excellent filters.

I have used the AAP house brand no-slip coated filters before. I have no complaints about them. I cut one open after a 5k mile run on my GTI, and it looked fine. It's a good filter for the $$.

+1 for that awesome, easy idea.
