Good and bad things about the state you live in?

Good Things, some of the top rated dining establishments in the country in Colorado. We have four pizza restaurants in the top 10 or so in the entire country. The bad, the Governor, Californians, Tesla Owners, and ridiculously high living costs.
I agree with most of what you say, but I'll add a couple for Denver metro which mostly applies to the entire front range. If you're in Steamboat or La Junta , it's going to be different. The same applies for those posting about CA, it all depends where you're at as that's a huge state.

Good - Weather. We get 300+ days of sunshine plus all four seasons but without the terrible humidity of a lot of other locations. They don't salt the roads, so rust isn't really an issue.

Bad - Dangerous drivers are now the norm unlike over 30 years ago when I moved here. And I'm not talking about driving fast as it's not speed, it's speed differential, all while weaving in traffic, cutting off others, driving on the shoulder to pass, etc etc. There's an entire thread about this so I won't get on my soapbox about idiots and left lane bandits.

Both - Cool things to do, especially if you like outdoorsy stuff, but way too many people now, so crowds are bad.

I think part of the problem is lack of options when travelling around town. I travelled for work to Arlington and then to San Antonio, TX in the past year and while there were lots of people, there were options to get where I wanted to go. Both on the hwy as well as major surface streets. In Denver, there aren't a lot of good options if the main routes are clogged up.

Now, about those top 4 pizza restaurants... Most are aware of Beau Jo's and Edgewater Inn in town was good last I was there years ago. But where are these other ones?

Marcos coal fired pizza (not related to the pizza chain) Pizzeria Locale in Boulder which I'm fairly certain I've had now called pizzeria Iberico. Mama Meads in Longmont is real legit NY style pizza and is awesome. The original owners were from New York. One of my favorites is Double D's in Broomfield. I've recommended them to Triple D on food network. They make a killer from scratch sourdough crust everyday. Eat Ya pizza on the 16th st mall in Denver is new but highly rated.

Illinois - can't argue with any of the "cons" listed - high taxes, high gas prices, etc. A family member once said that I'm paying as much to live in Illinois as they did living in California, only they at least got nice weather for their troubles.

Two "pros" that come to mind; Illinois has a really good system to collect household hazardous waste, at least in the Chicago area. There are some sites that are open every weekend to collect the stuff. I also have to say that for all of the knocks/jokes about various DMV's, I have never had a problem with Illinois' DMV and they've even gone above and beyond to be helpful several times.

California. The good. Wide open spaces. Mountains and beaches only a couple hours away from each other.
It's definitely a lifestyle state.

Bad. It can get very hot in summer.
Look out the window. You live in the desert.Don't blame that on CA. :ROFLMAO:

Taxes ,the price of everything
At least there are things and activities to spend your money on here!

and the people running the show are idiots.
The idiots on the other side of fence always seem more capable.

The best thing is the lack of proper seasons. That's also the worst thing. Luckily, the high mountains aren't far.
