If you want a professional realtor, don't waste their time unless you are a serious buyer or seller and that way they will take everyone serious.
I'll share a funny story with you, about buying my first home.
I was younger than the average buyer, and no idea what I was doing. Wanting to buy in a particular area, slowly drove up and down every road in that area. Any house with a for sale sign, I stopped and took a picture of it. There was 7 for sale, in that area, and while parked out front of the last 1, called the phone number on the sign. It was a Sunday, my day off, and this lady answered her phone. Asking if she could come over and show it to me, as I was parked out front. She said not right now, I'm doing an open house, but possibly in a couple hours, she needs to call the owners, and see if that works for them, and call me back. Anyway I heard back from her shortly after, and we made a time to meet there that afternoon. While looking at it, I said its too bad, that now to see the other 6, I'll have to go through this whole thing again, 6 more times. Calling the number on the sign, then making a time to see it. She didn't laugh at me, but said that she would be happy, to make appointments, and show me more houses the following weekend. Wow, that sure sounds a lot easier I said, or something like that, it was a long time ago, so don't remember the exact conversation. After looking at the house, she invited me to come sit in her car, and explained to me, what she does, how she could help, and that While she was happy to show me her listing, she couldn't actually sell it to me, because she wasn't allowed to be the realtor on both sides of the deal. So if I did want to buy the house we just saw, I would have to get another realtor to help me. Long story short, next weekend she showed me the other 6, and there was 1 I really liked amongst them. The next weekend, I asked to see that 1 house again, so did. Then I saw it again the weekend after that, it was a big decision for a young man, so I didn't want to rush it. Third time I saw it, I knew it was going to be mine, so asked her, how do I buy it from them. She patiently told me about how to do an offer, home inspections, etc. Well my offer was accepted, and then I had to get to a bank and apply for a mortgage, hire an inspector, etc. Not once did this lady call me stupid, rush me, or get upset. She was so kind, and patient, and walked me through it step by step. The day it was all done, I met her at the house, she handed me a sold sign, and said here, you do the honor of putting the sold sign, on the sign. It seemed weird to me that I never met the owners, or other realtor, but I had bought a house.
To many of you, that may sound ridiculous, but if you don't know, you don't know.
