The prices on these went up to $12.50 a pop around here. I would've still bought one, but they were out of stock.

I put a Motorcraft 3001 in my Jeep this time, but I was wondering what else is good? These are for 6 month oil changes, probably 6000 miles in a 4L Jeep Wrangler.

F.Y.I. I also went with RotellaT this time around becaues T&SUV is apparently 5w-30 now and I don't know where to get Delvac1 from...

How much did you pay for the Motorcraft?

Motorcraft oil filters are VERY high quality for the $

I like pure one filters at about 5.50$ around here.
motorcrafts are 3.50$

Delvac 1 can be had at most truck stops..
go hit a flying J or similar.

Motorcraft is a good one, Pure one would be good too. It filters much better then your M1 filter. Lots of cheaper alternatives.

I use the 301. The new extended guard or something like that. I remember reading that it had pretty good filtering numbers. The only reason I wouldnt use a Purolator on my car is because of the Dome end bypass thing which is not recommended by Ford

I believe the MC was about #3.50 so roughly 30% of the cost.

Does anyone have PNs for the Pure One equivalent?
I also heard the the NAPA Gold is a good choice. Napa's aren't very close to me, but I know their air filters are hi quality.

So does the extended guard.

If you could live with a smaller filter, the M1-205 will work in place of the M1-301. The M1-205 has a threaded-end bypass. I've used both filters on my VW GTI, & I have nothing but praise for the quality of both.

Matt,

The M1-301 crosses to the AMSOIL EaO15. (Height 5.178, OD 3.66) If you want a slightly shorter version, the EaO42 is 3.79 high and the same 3.66 diameter. Dealer / PC price on each of these is about what you are currently paying for the Mobil filter. If you want a taller filter, the EaO26 is 6.982 high, same diameter. That one is about $5.00 more.

The EaO line of filters is rated at 98.7% efficient (Absolute) at 15 microns and for one year change intervals when used with AMSOIL motor oils. If your running a synthetic with 6 month change intervals, I don't think you will find a higher quality filter for the money. For more info on these filters check http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/eao.aspx

I've running BALDWIN B2-HPG on our I6-242 Jeeps and V8-318 Dodge truck: Severe Service/Heavy Duty. I get them from a filter wholesaler by the case, keeping my costs down.

We run 7-9000 mile OFL. Used to use the M1-301, but it is an inferior filter to the B2-HPG.

Other only comparable filters are:

DONALDSON P1690771 "Endurance"
FleetGuard LF-3487 "Stratapore"

Baldwins for passenger vehicles come in two grades. The cheaper ones are the ones I purchased in a bulk shipment online.

...and the five I have remaining may be going in the garbage soon.

I have engine clatter when the engine is cold & temps below 40 degrees. Might not be a factor in Dallas - but it sure is in Michigan.

A good alternative to M-1 filters for half the price ($6.99) are the Wix/Napa Golds and Auto Zone's Bosch/Duralast Premiums.

If I'm reading that chart, it seems as if the Purolator PL30001 is the best filtering choice out there...

What about durability? I used to run fram filters before I split one.

PureOne and Wix/NAPA Gold.

Both are first-tier quality filters.

Buy what's cheapest among those two.

Paying $12.50 for a pass. car/light truck oil filter is nuts. Most dealers don't even charge that much.

Second this vote for Motorcraft. They are a Purolator Filter, but they have a threaded end bypass. Very high quality for the price.
