This is good news. Will help alleviate the long wait times at charging stations many have cited here. But we know the goal posts constantly shift when it comes to positive news regarding EV. This will be no more of a cartel than the current one named OPEC etc.

I agree. There is one thing right now though. The grid will not be able to handle even what 10% EV saturation? Who is going to pay the upgrade? The cartel infrastructure is in place. I have no problem with EVs as long as free choice isnt outlawed.
I suspect it will be just as costly someday to refuel an EV... Actually the cost of batteries might actually exceed owning a gas vehicle of the same type as in many cases it already does and we are just getting started.

For the record, I very well may own an EV as our second car as long as the taxpayers are still subsidizing it on another year or so. Im not sure yet, price matters to me.
It's hard to predict the future, some will be right and some wrong. It's really a flip of a coin right now.

How many lines at a Supercharger have you seen? I have never seen one personally, but have seen pics of ski resorts, which tend to be remote, be backed up on holidays.

I hope you haven't seen any! We are only 1% EV nationwide!

Media reports have shown long lines in places though.

Just having fun... :)

I haven't but I've read on here that it's an occurrence if not common.

You can look at what's available in a Tesla, and I've occasionally noticed locations that were unavailable.

I remember years ago I went Black Friday shopping with the family at a local outlet mall. It was tough finding a parking spot, but I did find one close to their Tesla Superchargers where every one was taken by a Tesla, whether or not it was connected. I don't know exactly how they were handling it though. Most I've seen have signs saying that EV charging was preferred but not necessary to park in those spots. Parking was at such a premium that I'm sure very few left just to free up spots.

I frequently take trips from where I live in North Texas to the Colorado Rockies, roughly 750-850 miles, and sometimes on secondary roads through New Mexico. I can't imagine planning stops around the location of non-Tesla charging stations, such as Electrify America, and then hoping against hope they are up and running.

From E&E News EnergyWire:

Imagine living in a world where the gas station has trouble providing gasoline.

Every few times a driver fills up, something goes haywire — the gas doesn’t flow, or it flows fast for a while and then slows to a trickle. Other times, the credit card payment is mysteriously rejected or the screen is blank.

If the consumer wants a helping hand, too bad. In this world, the gas station has no human, and the only option is a 1-800 number. The gas pumps are alone in the middle of a big parking lot.

Lol it's a bit different waiting in line for a fun experience at a vacation destination compared to waiting in line to charge so you can get groceries or drive home from work.

There isn't really that much of an incentive to use a charging station to do those things. Maybe if it's free or subsidized, but most EV owners prefer to charge at home because it's typically cheaper - especially with EV-specific rates - and more convenient. I do remember going on a trip with my parents in their new Tesla and I found nobody else was using the (free to charge) Destination Charging spaces.

It's best for going on trips, or if there's something like free charging. If I had a Tesla that came with unlimited free charging for the life of the car, I wouldn't be charging at home unless I had to. I certainly wouldn't be installing a 240V outlet. I have heard of apartment/condo residents who would only charge at public charging stations of one type or another.

We slowly shift from one cartel to another.....

Seems most issues of waiting are brought up by non EV owners.

Good news though, if a bit surprising.
