2nd this. I ran on track M1 0W40 to 300f and kept it 5kOCI.Happily using HPL 5W40 Euro in my VW on track. Last year did 8 track days for 8.5K mi on a fill. Oil looked fine (UOA posted in UOA section). Wagon is >200hp/liter (~400hp/1.8L). Oil temps between 260 and 280 F depending on ambients. HPL. Amsoil. Redline. Really your V8 probably wouldn't care if it used any major brand "norm" oil either as I'm guessing the power density isn't there.
After installing oil cooler (track where I go is at 5,100ft altitude and heat is major issue) all oils I ran I kept in for normal OCI, and they are your off the shelf Castrol 0W40, PPE 5W40, Motul X-Cess 5W40. No UOA differences between track time and once winter hits no track time.
