Hmmmm, where did you buy these, off Amazon?

NEVER give bank account information or debit card, always a credit card. From what I've seem, DSC makes it very easy to cancel, and you can always dispute any unauthorized charges with your CC company!

No, Amazon charge too much for shipping. I bought on Ebay.
I think it's the only place you can get the Rapira Razor anyway.

I have also tried a vintage Gillette. But found I still prefer the cheap Rapira.

I have this one:

http://www.westcoastshaving.com/Merkur-Progress-Long-Handle-Adjustable-Safety-Razor_p_279.html

It's a bit pricey, but it's adjustable so anyone should be able to get a nice shave with it...

You have either never used any good wet shaving razors, or you simply don't how to do it, because there's no way a shave from an electric razor can touch a wet shave from a blade. I used to shave with an electric, but I have a heavy beard and if I shaved in the morning, by the afternoon it would look like I didn't even shave. I can get such a close shave wet shaving that my face still looks clean shaven the next day...

I've heard the "my beard is too heavy" argument. Not true. If you're going to use an electric razor, get a good one, not a cheapie. GOOD electric razors actually shave below the skin with the lift and cut system.

My beard is heavy too and my Norelco does a great job. When one first starts out using an electric razor, there is a period of about a week until great close shaves can be gotten.

The other argument for men using a blade is that it is more "manly" to use a blade, rubbish.

Same here. And instead of DSC since I shave 2-3 times per week, I bought Dorco blades on Amazon. cheaper.

This is usually the case except in reverse. Blades cause cuts and other things like that. I have been using a Norelco for over 25 years and I cannot remember it "tearing my face to pieces".

I was a Mach 3 guy for years until one day I needed blades and they were $2.60 each at the local drug store. While still being annoyed, later that week I noticed a thread on another board I hang on that they were discussing razors. Well after reading close to twenty pages, I just had to go back to a safety razor.

Amazon, I got a Merkur 38C Razor and bought Personna blades at the local grocery store, a 10 pack for 2.50. I'm now using Feather blades which I picked up four years worth, 100 pack (Amazon) for $23.50. I change out the blades on the 1st and the 16th of the month. So I'm spending less than .50 per month on razor blades.

I'll warn you it takes a few shaves up to two weeks to get the technique down. Buy a styptic pencil when you start out you'll need it until you get use to using an old fashion double edge.

I've been using the Merkur safety razor for a little over two years and I'll never go back to a multi blade razor again.

Lesson #1

YOU DO NOT PRESS THE RAZOR INTO YOUR FACE WITH A DE RAZOR!

Multi blade razors seem to require pressure in order for a close-ish shave.

This is not required with DE shaving.

Never needed a styptic pencil.

Just another old-fashioned, rip-off business feeling those cold fingers on its shoulder as the internet devises a better way to do business.

Good riddance to them.

Let them go cry in a corner with cab companies, Blockbuster Video, and the CD business.

I tried my father-in-law's Norelco once...it didn't even cut my beard, and that's not an exaggeration...all it did was irritate my face...electric razors suck!

Specifically my neck gets torn up.

The only electric razor that's even come remotely close to giving a decent shave is the Brawn foil razor...even that is easily bested by a blade...the rotary electrics such as the Norelco don't work worth beans...

It appears that people here are too "manly" to use an electric razor. Keep wasting your money of shaving cream and gimmicky blades.

Why is it a waste of money? If we say blades work better for us than electric razors do, are you calling us liars? I think WE know what works best on OUR faces...not everybody has the same results with every product...I'm guessing if an electric razor works best for you, you probably have a peach fuzz beard...my beard is thick as nails, which I'm guessing is why electrics don't work well for me...

I tried both rotary and foil type electric razors. I used each type for at least a year. I ended up with too many ingrown hairs. I have found that a DE razor gives me the best balance of closeness without the extreme closeness (I don't shave against the grain.) that causes ingrown hairs. The blades are easy to obtain and the prices are very reasonable. One razor can last a lifetime as well.

Well 2 shaves with the DSC twin blades, the are much better than the bagged Gillette blades. I shave every other day, so i will see how long they last. the Gillette twin blades were good for about 4-5 shaves before they were too dull.

Yes, your beard is too "manly". Do you thump your chest when you shave?

I actually have a pretty thick beard, my girlfriend after a couple of days calls me "60 grit sandpaper". I wish I had a peach fuzz beard I only had to shave every week.

Electrics might good if you shave everyday but I can't tolerate doing that with an electric or cartridge. I have used a Mach 3 for a long time and liked it till the prices started to get ridiculous. I used to shave once a week and could plow through with the Mach 3 but not any more. Have to use the trimmer first.

Now I only shave about once a month or less. I only trim my beard up when I cut my hair.

I couldn't ever shave daily. The second day tore my face up so bad it was impossible to do the third day without extream pain. I grow the kind of stubble that will eat a shirt collar in no time.

No, do you pee sitting down? What's your problem? Why do you get all snarky just because someone disagrees with you? In case you haven't noticed, your opinion is very much in the minority here...
