I live in SE PA. Our local GIANT food store has a special discount on gas - I can get 40 cts/gal off. Ordinarily, I would never buy non-branded gas from a grocery store but this is such a good deal. Our SUV takes 91 octane.

I have read that non-branded gas comes from the same tank but the branded gasolines like Exxon and Sunoco have special detergent packages added that are not added to the non-branded gas.

Anyone see a problem with filling-up with the GIANT "grocery store" gas? Thanks.

Generally, off-brand gasoline is a gamble for they typically do not have the additional cleaning power (or enough additives to stay clean longer, let's put it that way instead) than those such in top-tier gasoline.

Bottomline: it's your vehicle, your money and your call. I've been using top-tier (Shell or chevron) in my 2 cars and couldn't be more happier.

I rarely spend enough there to get more tha 20cts off. And the attitude of the attendant at the nearest one isn't worth the discount.

Ditto Trajan!

In my case: I have yet to receive 1 single incident related to inferior gasoline clogging up injectors causing drivability problems on all the EFI cars I service up to this point. Total cumulative mileage is approx.3.1mil kms (got over 16 cars to maintain over the past 18 yrs). They all run on brand name gasoline.

Yes, I must admit that occasionally I'd run some OTC FI cleaner such as Techron, Shell V-pwr or Seafoam for preventative measures but never care about inferior gasoline, period. We have a neighbourhood off-brand gas station that is 3cents less/litre all day long, and yet it's empty all the time, it's called dominion gasoline.

** sorry folks, typo correction**

It should be:"... I have yet to receive 1 single incident related to top-tier quality gasoline related fuel injector clogging issues...not the "inferior" gasoline..."

not sufficiently caffinated at this moment..

I use gasoline at stations that sell a lot of the stuff. We go for lowest price too.

Here it is Sam's Club. They sell 87 and 93 octane. Stay busy.

I have been driving over 50 years and have never had a fuel related issue.

I would go for the savings.

I use it around once or twice a month. Seems to work well, (but I`m using the premium) It`s made by western refining out west.Used to be Phoenix fuel

It is not something I use on a daily basis. But if I'm in the area and need gas, then I'll buy it.

Same with BJ's discount gas.

who needs the attendant? I don't usually fill up in PA (NJ is 20-25 cents cheaper/gal) but I did go to giant recently because we had .30/off. not much of a savings since I only got like 12gal, but every little bit helps.
my feeling is, gas is gas, I don't fall for the hype. I used to use wawa gas because it was convenient and never had an issue.

You need said attendant when you have a problem with a pump. You need said attendant to reset it.

What you don't need is an attendant who says. "It stopped working because you filled your tank." Especially when said tank only has 1 gallon in it out of a 14.5 gal capacity.

I put Flying J, BP or whatever is the cheapest I can find. I don't fall for that top tier gas [censored]!! Exxon or Mobil isn't on that list and they make quality products. I've never had a clog injector using namebrand or unbranded because I use my on otc additaves to clean my injectors. Lately I've been using Jet Pet that purchases their gas from the spot market.
