Every time i type in a website name without the www and without the .com, i get the Yahoo search page with websites. How do i get rid of Yahoo. I've looked in add/remove ,did searches, nothing.

If you are using IE 8, look for the search bar near the address bar and click on the down arrow near the magnifying glass. That is your search options. Click on the manage Providers. Right click on the Yahoo and disable suggestions.

Same thing for FF, look for the search box. Hit the drop down in front of the toolbar search box, click on manage search engines. click on Yahoo, and uncheck the use search suggestions, or remove it from the search engine list.

P.s. you could do about:config, but it gets hairy if you make a mistake, FF gets upset.

This recently happened to me. I was using Mozilla Firefox and Yahoo showed up in an unwelcome fashion. My home computer is used by my wife, whose computer skills are not great, and by two children who play online games constantly, so it is conceivable that Yahoo was given "permission" by somebody. Long story short, I made sure that Explorer was working, and deleted Firefox and re-installed.

There is nothing more infuriating than every time you type in a URL, it is treated as a search, with no direct entry option.

Yahoo has been around the block, and they have to know that they have gotten into the realm of malware. The [censored] with them -- what's next from Yahoo? The Nigerian letter scams?
