Does anyone know how to get rid of those stupid big green check marks that cover half of your thumbnail pictures on all the photos in your, "My Pictures" folder? I've Googled it and tried every method posted, and none of them work. I'm running Windows 7. I can't believe they would not only do something this stupid, but not have a simple way to remove them. They make it impossible to locate your pictures, because they cover so much of an already too small of a thumbnail.

Not sure what you're talking about. I am not seeing any check marks on my Win7 machine.

Have you tried going to the "View" menu at the top of the folder and choosing some other view there, such as "Large icons" for example?

There is no "view" icon to click on in "My Pictures". At least none that I can find.

This,

This isn't your "My Pictures" folder. This is your Desktop Background selection UI.

Click on the Windows icon in bottom left corner and type in Pictures, and then click on it. That should take you to "My Pictures" folder.

I don't have any trouble getting to the folder. I'm having trouble getting rid of the check marks on the pictures.

Can you show a screenshot of your My Pictures folder so we can see it there?

That looks like a 3rd party app causing that. It's not native to Windows AFAIK.

But you are in the wrong folder.

Look at the path in his screenshot. He is in the Control Panel, choosing which pictures should be in the rotation of desktop backgrounds.

I have Norton Security, not Norton 360. I have read that Norton causes this. But If I turn it off I'll have no anti viral protection. So I would have to remove it, then install something else immediately or else risk getting viruses. And I'm not 100% sure that is causing it.

How would unchecking 'Backup Status Indicators' leave you with no antivirus protection???

Don't turn off your antivirus, just uncheck the box as MrMoody has suggested....

Yup, this, if that stupid option is the cause, then by all means, it's not going to leave the computer "vulnerable" and is certainly a simple "fix".

I'd ditch Norton, period. It's bloated junk masquerading as security.

Go with what works - Microsoft Security Essentials.

I'll agree with you there. I'm tired of all the B.S. Norton "provides". Like these idiotic check marks. As soon as my trial runs out, I'll replace it with something else.
