It's time to let my baby go, however it seems like no one wants to buy it.

I was thinking of trying to give it away to a charity in exchange for a tax rebate.

I was wondering if anyone on this board could pass on some info to me about this. Remember, I live in the Toronto, Ontario area.

Hope I posted this in the right area.

Cheers in advance.

Try the Kidney Foundation. I got rid of my old 83 Merc Marquis this way. They towed it away and sent me a charitable donation receipt for $50. This is the least you can get. If the car is actually worth something, the receipt will be for more $

Assuming your tax system works somthing like the US system.....

Don't claim any more than you are willing to debate with a tax auditor. That said, you should be safe picking the private party Kelly Blue Book price or prices for simmilar vehicle out of newspaper ads.

Your wiggle room is vehicle condition. In the US if it's under a certain value, it doesn't need to be appraised. Be sure the charitable receipt doesn't have any derogatory information about the vehicles condition on it. And don't get too greedy.
