anyone have knowledge about GENUINE ORIGINAL brand autoparts, they claim to sell/have OEM manufacturers parts and sell them thru chains like PARTSGEEK,CARID etc. They are claiming they get the parts thru the OEM Manufacturers and are selling them at a well below dealer prices.

They might be lucky enough to have access to Worldpac, which does carry actual OE parts.

Remember those cheap compilation pop records sold on TV in the '80s? The commercials said the tracks on the record were recordings by "the original artists."

The Original Artists was the name of the cover band that made those records.

this is also possible in regards to the original parts :sneaky:

Most OE parts are reboxed something else, unless you're talking about body or interior panels, internal engines parts, things like that. Something like a suspension component or an alternator is made by another company and supplied to the OE, just like tires. So, just like you don't have to go back to the dealer to buy the original tires that came on the car, you can also go to an authorized dealer for say, Denso, and buy an alternator.

As I understand it. OEM parts are those which are made by someone other than the automakers supplier for the part in question. So they could have access to a myriad of companies who make replacement parts. OE parts are the same parts which are supplied to the automaker but without the automaker branding.

Ex. Spark plugs for my 435i.

Genuine - BMW branded Bosch.
OE - Bosch
OEM - Champion, NGK, etc.

OE is the original stuff, usually only available through the dealer. OEM is the original equipment manufacturer, in your case, Bosch. Essentially it is the same product without the BMW logo on it.

NGK, Champion etc would be will fit products and may work just fine.

Ya. That works for me. I picked up classification system from FCP Euro.

The Basics

OE OEM are indicators that the part you're buying meets or exceeds the quality of the original item in your vehicle. In general, OE means the part is the exact piece used in original manufacturing, while OEM means that the company is held to a high quality standard and that they produce OE parts for other manufacturers. When it comes to OE quality level, drag the sliders across every photo on this page to see exactly what we mean!

Original Equipment (OE) Parts: These are the same parts originally supplied to dealerships, except with the dealer logos removed. This is done by manufacturers so the parts can be sold outside the dealer network due to licensing agreements.

Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Parts: These are produced by a manufacturer that supplies at least one OE part to a vehicle manufacturer. OEM parts may not have been original to the car, but are held to higher-quality standards and stringent quality control.

Genuine Parts: These parts come branded by the vehicle manufacturer and at a premium cost, as they're sold through dealerships with higher overhead expenses. These are the same parts you would find at your local dealership."

dioing a little more research into GENUINE brand parts or GPC they are marketed globally thru auto parts retailers, in the USA it would be NAPA parts although i havent seen the same named brand clockspring i want available there, theres not much info out there online on how they procure these OEM auto parts and then sell them at a good discount thru CARID and PARTSGEEK sites, an OEM toyoa clockspring for my truck anywhere from $213-$350 plus ship/handling, supposely the same OEM part is $123 plus ship/handling. GENUINE also supplies replacement parts for industrial usage too, i really would like to believe these are legit OEM Manufactured parts:unsure: would be a great deal if so.

It's an aftermarket parts company, sometimes they use the same vendor as the OEM that may be the same quality or they may be rejects. Might be a completely different supplier...

If they're a main supplier to NAPA and auto repair shops, the quality is probably decent-pretty good. Shops won't put up with junk parts that result in comebacks.

OEM is the only sure way to get an OEM part, anything else is a gamble. Maybe check a Tacoma forum for others that have had success with aftermarket for an idea?

You've been researching this since July...
