I have a new 05 Ram 3.7 v6 and live in texas.My question is on the oil cap it says 5w30 and have a 7/70,000 warranty on the truck and was wandering could I use the 0w30 GC and still be safe with the warranty? And would it hold up to the Texas heat in the summer months? I'm thinking about useing this oil.I looked at a az here and they had a good supply of gc.Thanks

GC will certainly hold up very well in the heat, and certainly better than a dealer fill.

I can't see how a 0w30 wouldn't satisfy any warranty concerns.

I'm willing to bet that if you crack open your manual, you'll find 0w30 is an acceptable alternative - if not, is should be

I agree with what you are saying ,I looked in the manuel and it only says 5w30.

I bet if you asked they would tell you that you can only run 5w30. I would just find some cheap 5w30 and buy it for reciept purposes.

the 0w30 meets all the requirements of 5w30, and beats the cold start properties of it. Use it with no concern. I do.

If GC can handle a turbocharged 1.8 liter 4.3 qt (with monster oil filter) oil sump engine with flying colors, I can't see why it wouldn't work just fine in a 5+ qt oil sump non turbo 3.7 liter engine.

Also check the wording of the manual regarding API service level. IMHO, if it says a level that GC 0w30 meets, I don't see how GC wouldn't be ok and Dodge could refuse a warranty claim.

I wouldnt worry about it. I am going to use GC in my 03 Dakota 4.7L. they may ask why is your oil green. when they check the dip stick. that would be fun to explain.

even in my manual it said only 5w30 to 10w30. but maybe soon dodge will change this beings owned by BENZs

OT about your 3.7 ram. is it underpowered due to the small V-6 in the RAM. knew a guy who had a 4.7 in a ram and he wished he would of got the 5.9.

Dark jedi,my ram is a reg.cab sb and the v6 engine does just fine for what I do with the truck.16'bass boat flatbed trailerstuff.If it was a crewcab or larger I would get the hemi.I have 3600 miles and it is running stronger now and handles everything I do with no problem .Getting constant 16-high17 mpg in town and 21mpg hwy anyway I drive it.I had a 2002 same truck with 4.7 traded it with 95,000 on it no problems at all ,on take off it is peppierthan the v6 but will not get the milage the v6 will.thanks for the info.

I talked to my dealer service and he said no problem with running the 0w30 just change it at normal oil changes.

i change the syn oil in my 04 neon at 5000 mile oci. that is only because it is under warrenty. i will be extending to 10000 or 15000 (with proper oil) after the warrenty is over. are normal oil changes on the ram also 3000 severe/6000 normal. seems like dodge is the only one still on the 3000 mile oci.

edit: the only thing gc isnt is energy conserving. it is an oil that meets api sl/cf, acea:a3/b3 b4, vw, bmw, mb and posrsche

thats cool man. my QC dakota gets 16 city and in the 20 HWY. that is if I am not in the moutains lol. I was just wondering about the 3.7. I wasnt trying to knock your engine. I was jsut wondering beings its in a ram thats all. from whats I was told the 3.7 is bassicaly the same as the 4.7 execpt 2 cylinders are cut off.
