It's been a lot of years, but GT-1 did have a different but pleasing smell from other oils of the day. The closest I've smelled since was Mercruiser outboard lube, which smelled MUCH stronger, almost offensively so . . . and was by strange coincidence also green.
I seem to recall the GT-1 having a slight golden metallic hue to its dark green base color, but it has been a lot of years, and a lot of quarts, since then.
If any oil could be ever called "sexy", then the old GT-1 was it. Not that any of us would think of motor oil in those terms.
