I was taking my wife's car (21 Kia Seltos with 1.6T) to my tire shop for an oil change while I was there for something else. I reiterated that I wanted 5W-30 full synthetic oil, but didn't bother to ask what they use. Turns out it was Kendall GT-1  I don't know much about Kendall nor can I find much about it. I'll assume that it's good enough to to go 3500-4000 miles until the next change which I will be doing. I usually do my own but since I was going to a place that could change oil, I thought I would have it done. I'm sure it will be fine, but we like to worry about stuff around here.

Used this stuff when I had my old VW Passat, highly recommended. Made the list of approved VW of America oils for the 1.8turbo that had issues with sludge if the proper oil and larger oil filter wasn't used.

In the '60's and '70's all I used was Kendall GT-1 in my vehicles because my neighbor used it in his dragster. Boy was I dumb.

Kendall made by Conoco-Phillips is a fine oil.

That is good oil and I wouldn't hesitate using it for a 5000 run.

An old respected brand.. Their logo is a hand holding up two fingers. This is because it represented the oil as good for two thousand miles between oil changes, at a time when it was common to change oil every 1000 miles. in the 1960s, it was the official oil at the Watkins Glen Race Circuit.

Phillips 66 has wisely decided to target certain markets, realizing that trying to out-advertise Exxon Mobil is a waste of money. Phillips 66 branded products are big in the aviation market and Kendall has a loyal following of fleet users.

I'm currently running full synthetic in a Ford 5.0 and a Ford 2.0. Running semi synthetic in a Ford V-10 and UOAs on each of them say engine wear is rock bottom.

My entire fleet runs it besides my personal cars. About 60-70 gasoline powered vehicles. It’s fine. They’re best company trucks. We don’t get rid of them till 300k miles. And normally because it’s a plethora of non oil related issues. Frames rotted out, entire manifold systems rotted off. Axles rotted through. Etc.

Example of when I get rid of stuff;

2016 Ford Explorer. 3.5L v6 - non ecoboost.

286,000 miles give or take:

Needs a water pump, exhaust manifolds, struts, rear main leaks, output shaft leaked input shaft leaks.

Not worth the ~$5800. It’s had hail damage. Its lived in salt. It’s lived a hard life in Michigan being a sales rep vehicle. The inside is well used. It’s time for it to move on. It’s a fleet vehicle.

I’ve owned it probably since 25-30k miles. All on Kendall GT1 Max. Who knows when the oil was actually changed. Hopefully every 7500-8000 miles. But sales reps.

So time to move on.

What do you run in your personal vehicles ?

Pinnacle ?

Nothing wrong with Pinnacle… Just messing with you.

Before scamflation I would order Kendall online and run it in my 98 F150

Can't complain about Kendall's fine oils in 0w20-5w30 flavors, despite not advertising itself for ingredients beyond Group 3 in these lighter weight viscosities.

Goes to show that some Group 2+ & 3 oils can rack-up 400k miles also, just like the fancy-schmancy boutique Group 4 and 5 oils.

Didn't all those really old Arnold Palmer Pennzoil TV ads feature him driving the same farm tractor for decades on Group 1 oils?

Redline 5w30 euro in all 3 gasoline vehicles. Chevron XSP 5w40 in the dually.

Mostly because it’s free for me.
