GC Green vs Gold

I realize that there is a great cult following with the
green GC.

My question is whether the gold cuts the mustard, and if
there is really enough difference between the two to make
a quality difference between one over the other?

I know that old opinions die hard, so is there any
objective evidence that one is better than the other?

gold is thicker and has a higher pour point and lower VI.

other than that it looks like they substituted magnesium for some calcium to up the TBN retention a bit.
